I genuinely think one of the biggest problems with modern WoW lore is that it's become so focused on external threats that we've lost touch with Azeroth itself. What I mean is, we're so caught up in what's coming next, who the next big enemy is, and what they're trying to achieve that the factions have undergone massive changes without us really experiencing how those changes affect the world and its people. At times, our own factions barely feel like the ones we once belonged to. I think a lot of this could have been avoided if the narrative had focused more on Azeroth itself: how its people, cultures, and factions react to everything happening around them, rather than constantly putting the spotlight on the next threat and its motivations. We've spent so much time looking beyond Azeroth that we've forgotten to tell the stories happening within it.
