one of my favorite things I've written in a while. we bought an out of season candle on severe discount from a man with flies for eyes and teeth advertising the winning numbers to a powerball that had already drawn later we poured the wax made to smell like a data center’s approximation of a nursing home apple pie onto our vinyl record collection it filled the channels that once made sound and when it hardened we took delight in the needle attempting to find something familiar that no longer existed

IMO, a lot of people don't have a worldview. For them, politics is about gender performance. Andrew Schulz fantasizes about joining the military to fight for his country, but won't set his thermostat to 78°. It's not about civic responsibility, but about performing machismo.
