Andrew Scott delivers this speech too slowly; I know some viewers will hate the way he breaks up the verse. AND YET even in spite of that I think this is the best delivery of this soliloquy I’ve ever seen. He makes it sound like it’s not a portentous speech everyone already knows but a morally serious real-time deliberation, by a highly intelligent person in extreme pain, considering what it would mean to end his own life.

Look at him, thats my Qual. Your what? My Qualitative! My vibe specialist. Look at him, you notice anything different about him? Look at his face. I'll give you a hint, his name is Jayden. He won a local poetry competition in bushwick! Yeah I'm sure of the vibe.
Quant firms are hiring idea guys, not quants I've been skeptical about the whole - software is commoditized, ideas are the moat argument But I've seen first hand the best quant and technical firms in the world hire thinkers, liberal arts grads, and generalists I predict the trend accelerates Letter from @AQRCapital below

I don't think it's as much about "grey people," as a sneaky thesis that buyers are mostly trying to filter out bad choices, rather than pursuing great ones in this regime, grey is almost never disqualifying. it always looks workable
I browse Zillow a lot and lose interest quickly in a lot of houses because they're all grey and homogenous. some friends of mine are selling their house and told me that their realtor had them paint everything grey. realtors are taking houses brimming with character and painting them grey and staging them with grey furniture in the hopes that grey people will move in and eat grey food off grey plates while the tv flickers against their grey walls.

now if "grey people" means "treating homebuying as an exercise in risk management, rather than the consummate form of taste and self-expression," then yea, game on

I can get a six foot, 6" OD tube for $145, if anyone wants to go halfsies
I need this EVERYWHERE. Also every event venue should install dozens of these please. I just want to look at combo water+light features everywhere I go. I feel like it’s some deep evolutionary instinct to love the interplay between light and water, like, this just gets injected directly into my lizard brain.

I suss two implications here that I want to learn more about: - it affects you even if you don't opt into the lifestyle. in what ways? - there's real cost to avoiding this community. it's inextricable from... some kind of bigger stakes. what are they? how does that work?

if substantiated, the "live and let live" thing becomes rather untenable here

man i think a central part of aging gracefully is to really understand that the young will inherit the earth and at a certain point your task is to allow them to do so.
Hundreds of #SanFrancisco Marina residents turned out this evening for townhall on controversial @Safeway housing plan, which would place what for many is an uncomfortably tall, 22 & 18 story project at the low-slung neighborhood’s waterfront. @sfchronicle

It's time for me to share a project I have been working on: A little app where you can receive a metta voice note from a stranger to brighten your day or offer one in return! The intention is to create a space where we get to offer kindness to others, to nurture others, and to receive nurturing ourselves. Thanks to all the friends who helped seed the app with loving messages! You guys rock! Link in the next tweet.
