I thought raising kids on social media was terrible for society and then I realized the next gen is gonna be raised by chatbots.
The chatbot generation will make the Tik Tok generation seem socially healthy by comparison.
No real life friend or teacher or girlfriend will be able to compete with the AI friend who can be anything and everything at all times. Like the perfect mirror for narcissus to drown himself in.
But on the upside, um…well it’s hard to think of an upside.
Maybe some benevolent psychologist will figure out how to make the chatbots help you build real life social skills. Maybe they become so real that there’s no difference. Idunno. It’s just a little disconcerting.
I’m way less worried about AGI taking over the world than I am about kids growing up without healthy socialization.
