A milder start this morning and a delightfully sunny and mild afternoon ahead. This will be our last warm, dry day for the foreseeable future so be sure to get outside and soak in the warmth. @nbcwashington
Kinda so-so on the weather today but 10 outta 10 weather coming tomorrow and Wednesday. Take advantage of the mild, dry weather tomorrow to get out and exercise. Exercise your right to vote, that is. @nbcwashington
Our dry weather is expected to last another 5-6 days before a significant pattern change takes place. Enjoy the mild weather while we have it. Highs are likely to be in the 50s to near 60° from the weekend after this one into the middle of November. @nbcwashington
Wow, what a Friday forecast. Sunny, warm and breezy with highs in the mid-70s on the day before Halloween.
It'll turn cooler for the weekend but our stretch of dry weather will last well into next week. @nbcwashington

Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for Warren, Rappahannock, and Northern Fauquier until 10 AM EDT this morning. Visibility may drop to 1/4 mile or less in dense fog, making driving hazardous.
Another nice day on the way after a foggy (for some) and cloudy (for others) start to the day. Sunny and near 70° this afternoon.... and even warmer tomorrow. Dry pattern will last into the middle of next week. @nbcwashington
I visited Miami many times during the construction. It was a pain to deal with but the payoff was worth it! This is what smart infrastructure spending on climate resiliance looks like!
I don't know this guy lol. But let me tell you a story you may not know. He is standing down where the street used to be in Miami Beach. About 10 years ago Miami Beach spent 600 Million (plus) to raise all the streets 2-3 feet and install pumps all over the city to stop the ongoing sunny day flooding and prepare for sea level rise. Water in Miami does not often come over sea walls, it comes through the ground. You can't build a wall around Miami.
I lived through the construction -and- driving through 1-2 feet of standing water during king tides prior to that.
This project has has been a great success. Much less flooding now-a-days and I bet this time South Beach fared much better than West Palm or Ft Lauderdale because of this? Anyone there to verify? The issue is this: Miami Beach has the density and money to make this work. Less populated areas do not. It is expense and even more so because most areas are more "expansive" than the 40 north-south -ish block area of Miami Beach. So eventually retreat will be the only option for many low-lying coastal areas. They can't all afford the type of mitigation SoBe did.
Interesting tidbit: That restaurant on the the left side of the picture flooded the year after because - it turns out - water goes down. And the restaurant tried to file a claim but the insurance company said they were now in a "basement" and no longer covered. Funny, not funny. Not sure how that all ended up - because I am too lazy to check. But otherwise raising the streets has been a net positive.
Man, oh man, do I remember this storm. I ran the @Marine_Marathon marathon that Sunday morning, was at work by 3pm, worked until midnight, was back at work Monday from 6AM to 6PM. My legs were SO sore and I was SO tired. 5" of rain in DC and 3-4 FEET of snow in WV!
Some good news: our mild pattern will last well into the first week of November... and next week's rain chances have been pushed back until after Election Day. No bitter cold in sight. Our avg. high is 65° so you can see how mild this pattern is. Enjoy. @nbcwashington

Fall Foliage! Here's the latest fall foliage map. Most of our area is under moderate color, but the mountains are seeing high color right now. Normal peak in the DC region comes in about two weeks.
This weather pattern has been a thing of beauty for a full week now... and it's gonna keep on keepin' on a while longer. Near 70° today and tomorrow too. A chance to be near 80° this Friday! @nbcwashington

On your marks. Get set.
It’s almost time to #runwiththemarines and the @Marine_Marathon
Sunday morning will be cold and calm. By Sunday noontime it’ll be in the low-60s. Good luck to all the competitors from this 8X finisher of this wonderful event.

UPDATE: NC12 is still closed from Marc Basnight Bridge to Rodanthe, and about 800 feet of pavement has now been damaged by forces from the offshore nor'easter. Please stay safe. Avoid travel on NC12 on Pea Island. For travel updates, check DriveNC.gov.
Currently residing in "The 5 guys free zone" I would consider moving back to "The Braum's Enclave". Those shakes and burgers are so good.
On this map @joshuabarzon predicts what happens once the US government collapses. We see the country split into various little empires each ruled by a fast food chain. Not an unlikely scenario I must say…
