A to Z of Women in Horror: Y is for Yvonne DeCarlo. Yes that's a cheat. If you have a better Y please drop it in comments! But Yvonne was goth beauty on the TV sitcom The Munsters. She went from femme fatale in some great noirs to Lily Munster! Love her.

A to Z of zombies: X is for The X-Files. The dead have risen on The X-Files voodoo style in Fresh Bones, seriously in Millennium, & hilariously in Hollywood AD where Gary Shandling and Tea Leoni play Hollywood versions of Fox and Mulder. Great series.

A to Z of zombies: W for WARM BODIES. Romeo & Juliet reimagined as rom-zom-com. Romeo is R and his struggle to reconcile what he has become with what he vaguely remembers he used to be is both funny and poignant making him thoroughly lovable.

A to Z of Women in Horror: S is for Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein. She published her book anonymously in 1818 (at age 18) because it was unthinkable a woman could create such a horror tale. Thank you Mary for blazing a path for women in horror.

A to Z of zombies: S is for Seoul Station. Shaun of the Dead is the obvious pick but Seoul Station is a gut punch like only South Korea can deliver. It’s the animated prequel to Train to Busan and it is brilliant and emotionally devastating.

A to Z of Women in Horror: R is for Alma Reville, screenwriter, film editor & wife of Alfred Hitchcock. Credited as writer for Shadow of a Doubt & Suspicion but she was always Hitch's closest collaborator & sounding board.

A to Z of zombies: R is for RAMMBOCK: BERLIN UNDEAD. Gritty, unflashy German zombie film looks to a group of common folks trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. Well worth checking out & credited as Germany’s first zombie film.

A to Z of zombies: Q is for QUEENS OF THE DEAD. Can’t do better than a zombie film from the daughter of the master himself, Tina Romero. And seriously, dealing with zombie apocalypse at a drag club with a bunch of queens is fierce fun.
