Repost and reply for a chance to win this autographed Paul Skenes @Topps card!
Paul Skenes turns 24 today! Last year, Skenes became only the third pitcher to win the Rookie of the Year and Cy Young within the first two seasons of his career, following: Fernando Valenzuela (ROY & Cy Young 1981) Dwight Gooden (ROY 1984, Cy Young 1985)

“See, what a morning, gloriously bright, with the dawning of hope in Jerusalem; folded the grave-clothes, tomb filled with light, as the angels announce ‘Christ is risen!’” Why should we sing about folded up grave clothes? To make the comparison between Jesus and Lazarus. Lazarus was raised to the resumption of life. Jesus was raised triumphant over death. Lazarus came forth from the grave, bound with linen strips and wrapped in a cloth (John 11:44). By contrast, the disciples saw the linen cloths of Jesus folded up in a place by itself (John 20:7). Nothing to unwrap. No one to unbind. Jesus did not struggle to get free. He did not stumble out of the tomb. He got up on resurrection morning, took off those nasty death pajamas, and folded them neatly in a corner because he had no need for them anymore. Jesus was not simply living again; he was done dying forever. “Death is dead, love has won, Christ has conquered.”

Eagle Nation, meet Freedom II! Freedom II is a female Southern Bald Eagle, and she’s currently training to carry on a legacy in Eagle Nation! Rescued as a young eagle in Florida, she survived the often-fatal West Nile virus, recovered from vision challenges. 📸 David Wright

This is a noble idea but will have no effect if the NCAA doesn't also get on board. The majority of kids are chasing exposure for college at a time when less college spots are available to HS players (roster cuts/portal) so they are playing even more right now, not less.
News: MLB is banning team officials from watching amateur players or collecting video and data on them for a monthslong period over the winter, saying year-round play “is putting young players at a dramatic risk of future injury.” Story free at ESPN: espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/4630…

John Burn-Burdoch is one of the journalists doing the most to help us understand the massive changes to society, consciousness, and now personality in the smarphone era. This report is astonishing. He brings a lot out from behind the paywall: @jburnmurdoch
NEW: Is the internet changing our personalities for the worse? Conscientiousness and extroversion are down, neuroticism up, with young adults leading the charge. This is a really consequential shift, and there’s a lot going on here, so let’s get into the weeds 🧵

Scottie Scheffler said winning golf tournaments is ultimately, not satisfying. Without saying it, he iterates that athletic accomplishments are great, but it’s like striving after the wind. The only thing that satisfies, ultimately, is Jesus Christ.

Encouraging others is like CPR -- better to do it clumsily than be so hesitant that we avoid it altogether. People are dying around us and need words of life.

Between suggesting the sale of his brother Joseph in Genesis 37, and offering himself in the place of his brother Benjamin in Genesis 44, Judah had lost two sons (Er, and Onan in Gen. 38). He experienced the same kind of grief he'd caused his father, Jacob, so that by Genesis 44 he'd sooner die than see his father's heart break again. In itself suffering is never a good thing, but I suspect Judah's pain made him a more compassionate person. The losses we experience in life can harden us, or they can break us. God can work with the broken pieces.

The Dodgers will have a $375 million payroll in 2025, the highest in MLB by a tremendous margin, and it’s only *that* low because they have over a billion dollars in deferred salary that they’ve kicked into the distant future
When Tanner Scott’s deal is made official, the Dodgers’ luxury-tax payroll for 2025 will exceed $375 million. That is about $70 million more than the next-highest team, Philadelphia. The Yankees are the only other team with a CBT payroll projected to be over $300 million.
