ETC Community Call #62 🍀 Bunker Mode
We talked in-depth about the quantum and AI threat to ECDSA and where $ETC stands, what's planned for the next core-geth v1.12.24 release, a look back at our trip to #TOKEN2049 and a lot more.
Listen below. 🎧
ETC Community Call #62 is live.🔥
• Where ETC stands on the quantum threat to ECDSA.
• What’s planned for the next core-geth release.
• Are preconfirmations and native stablecoins a good fit for $ETC?

The 2016 fork split the chain. It didn’t split the research.
ETC upgrades keep bringing in Ethereum EIPs: Byzantium with Atlantis, Istanbul with Phoenix, most recently Shanghai with Spiral.
#Ethereum’s research makes $ETC better, and every EIP that crosses over gets a second life on proof of work.
We’d like more ideas to cross the fork in both directions.

One of the best ways to contribute to Ethereum Classic is to run a node. 📡
This guide walks you step by step through getting set up and building core-geth from source. 🧑🏻💻
#VeriFriday-002
Running your own node is the difference between believing the chain and knowing it.
No third party. No API key. No one in between.
It’s the most underrated thing anyone in this community can do.

#Bitcoin proved proof-of-work money works.
#Ethereum made it programmable.
#Zcash keeps pushing proof-of-work forward on privacy and payment speed.
#EthereumClassic added zk-proof verification in 2019, and is still learning from all three.
That’s proof-of-work symbiosis.

Heading to #Devcon8 in Mumbai?
We're hosting an Ethereum Classic meetup on Nov 2, right after Ethereum Cypherpunk Congress #3.
We'll talk proof-of-work, client diversity, cypherpunk values, EVM symbiosis, and a lot more.
Free and open to all. RSVP below.

Ethereum aims for “centuries-long cryptographic security, via hash-based schemes.” For its consensus, that means new keys for every validator.
Ethereum Classic’s proof-of-work already rests on hashes. Its consensus needs no migration.
Same EVM. Same Solidity. Same tooling. Same contracts.

1/ Project Triforce is a grid of Ethereum Classic nodes we run. It serves the public RPC and watches the network: client diversity, reorgs, the mempool and every peer it can see.
Four clients. Three providers. Three regions. Three sync modes.
Here’s why each number is there. 🧵

Zcash’s preconfirmations proposal: merchants get a signed receipt that a payment is on its way into a block.
Accept payments in seconds, not after confirmations. No consensus change, and it fits any proof-of-work chain, including Ethereum Classic.
Is it worth building on $ETC?
4/ Three sync modes: archive, full and snap. They should always agree on the canonical chain. When they don’t, the dashboard shows it straight away.
That signal is the point.
Watch it live 👀 triforce.classix.dev
3/ Three providers (OVH, Cherry Servers and Latitude.sh) across the Americas, EMEA and APAC. No two nodes share a physical facility.
rpc.classix.dev sends you to the nearest region automatically.
2/ Four clients: Core-Geth, Geth Classic, Nethermind and Besu, side by side under real RPC load.
Different implementations surface bugs that a single-client setup hides. And if one client hits a critical bug, the others keep serving, so the endpoint stays up.

At TOKEN2049, Josh Swihart (@jswihart) of ZODL spoke in front of a photo of Prague, 1989.
The idea is parallel polis: if you can’t reform the institutions you have, build the ones you need beside them.
$ETC knows the move. In 2016 a small group couldn’t stop the fork, so they kept the original chain running beside it.

Close, but not quite. The transaction still waits for a block like any other.
What changes is that a preconfirmation service signs a receipt right away promising it’s headed into a block, so a merchant or service can accept the payment in seconds instead of waiting.
The service also blocks a second spend from the same account, and mining pools that opt in earn most of the fee for including the transaction. The more hashrate that opts in, the stronger the receipt.
It’s a Zcash proposal for now. We think the same design would work on ETC.
