Fintech VC - that’s it, super boring

I have Starlink both at home and the cottage. Best internet service there is. Canada needs to think twice about their rural internet strategy. Do you want to connect Canadians now or in 10 years? What’s better for Canadians?

"We're cutting ties with Space/X in favor of a bankrupt company with zero active satellites which is completely dependent on Space/X for all future satellite launches." That'll show them.
PM Mark Carney has confirmed he’s cutting ties with Musk and Starlink and heavily backing a $2.3 billion contract with Telesat Lightspeed. Musk and his mood swings has shown us who he is and we believe him.

Super interesting - we’re just at the tip of buying of private company datasets on human workflows.
Mercor Research mapped AI benchmarks to actual US jobs. Only 208 of 923 occupations in the US economy are represented by existing AI benchmarks. 90% of hours worked in the US aren't covered well by a relevant AI benchmark. Today, we’re releasing the 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗦 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆, an interactive breakdown of which economic tasks are covered by AI benchmarks. Benchmarks are how we measure AI’s progress and anticipate its impact on real work. They’re crucial to understand which jobs AI can automate, where the biggest gaps are, and how those capabilities are changing over time. The Benchmark Map is our first step toward building a resource that makes it easier to answer: 𝘋𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘈𝘐 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘺 𝘰𝘤𝘤𝘶𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯? Explore it here: mercor.com/research/labor-in…

Man, Bioware is closing. This sucks. In their honor, here's a thread of all the good games they've made in the last 10 years 🧵:

One quick win would be to call kn @MayorOliviaChow to reverse the renaming of Sankofa Square, now that Ghana “has approved a new bill criminalising homosexuality and the promotion of LGBTQ+ activities.” bbc.com/news/articles/c5yede…
At a time when human rights are being challenged around the world, Canada must work with our partners and allies in speaking out and ensuring that rights are protected and strengthened, including those of the 2SLGBTQI+ communities everywhere. This is a strong belief shared by the members of our Pride Caucus and a visiting delegation from the German Bundestag. As likeminded nations, Canada and Germany have been promoting human rights for three quarters of a century, and will continue to do so together. @GermanyInCanada #humanrights #pride

Been a hermes user since it came out. Tried grok-bot. Damn if I’m not thinking of switching. It’s so damn easy to use and just gets it right the first time way more often then hermes does.

Don’t worry, Canadians! The terrorist who plotted to storm Parliament Hill and bomb Toronto has been miraculously cured of extremism. The Parole Board says Canadians can sleep soundly.

Bullshit. They amount of waste in this city is mind boggling. The number of ridiculous pet projects (e.g. Sankofa Square, etc.) and the bloated, inefficient bureaucracy that wastes tens of millions of dollars per year is overwhelming. And we have nothing to show for it. Traffic is worse, our infrastructure is crumbling, public safety is a growing concern and the quality of city services continues to deteriorate. Chow has got to go, along with her collection of useless left-wing councillors.
Every year, Olivia Chow has done a line-by-line review to find savings. Brad Bradford has been clear: he wants to repeat what happened in 2011. Putting big cuts to libraries, affordable housing and other public services on the table. We can't risk going backwards.

All the individuals who were close to Justin Trudeau and stuck with him for a decade (or most of it), and who are NOW saying publicly how horrible / unqualified he was... ...owe an explanation to all Canadians as to why they didn't speak up when it would have mattered.

We were all saying that after his first term but the wisdom of canadian electorate was we need nine years of this! 🤦🏻‍♂️ But for real, what’s a lost decade between friends?
Sophie Grégoire Trudeau didn't see Justin Trudeau as a PM: 'I knew it was his job, but come on.' Canada's former unofficial first lady also said she wouldn't advise people with young children to enter into politics nationalpost.com/news/canada…

I guess now we know why @oliviachow is always dodging the questions in these Toronto mayoral debates. When she tries to actually talk about policy, she reveals a scary truth: She doesn't know what she's talking about. Please watch the debate. Any debate. Hopefully it will be clear the choice has to be to vote for @BradMBradford
Torontonians deserve leadership that knows what it's talking about. But mayor Olivia Chow, as we can see in this clip. Has no idea. She's been a politician for 50 years and she can't grasp Finance. Brad Bradford on the other hand. Clearly knows what he's saying. Is Toronto going to let this continue? Or will they vote for change? (btw, I tried to warm up the picture because TVOs white balance was icky tonight). @MayorOliviaChow @BradMBradford

Thanks to the Yonge St bike lanes, this ambulance wasted 30 valuable seconds at a single intersection. There was no where for the cars to pull off to. There are dozens of intersections coming up. If it’s your family member waiting for a defibrillator, I can’t imagine…. #topoli

The actual facts about SpaceX in Ukraine: - SpaceX is a private company with zero obligation to help Ukraine, yet it stepped up when governments dragged their feet. - Starlink and Starshield are not the same. Starshield is under U.S. government control. That is who made last night’s call. - Ukraine accounts for only a micro fraction of SpaceX’s revenue, while the company bears the risks of operating amid Russian attacks and geopolitical pressure. The financial return hardly justifies the exposure. SpaceX helps because it chooses to. Starshield access, meanwhile, is up to the US government. - SpaceX has every right to set limits on how its technology is used. They own it and bear consequences for it. This is while they actively collaborate to take down Russian access to Starlink that threatens to collapse Ukraine. - Throwing tantrums over not getting all your demands, including offensive use, or simply because Elon disagrees with you, while SpaceX risks its assets to help, says plenty about your character. - Demanding a company be nationalized so you can just take its product is the loudest confession that you cannot build anything. You can only steal. - Europeans should try to build their own. As a space fan, I'd celebrate it. - I don't care about the politics. But attacking the company that stepped up when it had no obligation to help is pathetic. The truth is, without Starlink saving Ukrainian communication in the early days, their reality would have severly looked very different today, and they should be grateful.

if you sell AI training data, see how you compare: we found 159 companies selling data, RL envs and evals, every fact sourced plus 38 programs that pay companies for their data: whosellsdata.com 8 of the 14 that pay companies directly publish a dollar range. most of the rest set terms per deal. unknowns are marked and nothing is ranked the other page: what each program wants, who qualifies and what it offers: whosellsdata.com/buying missing something, or something wrong? fix it on the site, a person reviews every change we built this at @Secludy. if you buy, broker or license company data and need the names out before it reaches a lab, dm me

I played UO in Sep 97 until I joined the OSI team in 2000 for 2 years as a programmer on UO. Dude your retrospective was brilliant. @majuular Thank you! There was nothing like hitting that GM status or getting awesome loot - then the server went down and when it came back your back to 99.9. Good times.
