better utilization ≠ fair allocation, fair pricing the only chance to recoup wasted dollars is to enforce a (soon unnecessary) middleman by monopolizing computation power. Out-pricing consumers is one way, pushing policy against open or local models is another

As intellectual property (and thinking in general) value goes to zero, things like energy, compute, connectivity need to become human rights.

OpenAI's longtime safety lead David Robinson has quit Friday and now he wrote a strongly negative piece on The Atlantic. > "Companies do not have anything close to certainty that good scores on their alignment tests actually mean a good model" > "there is a meaningful risk that rapid acceleration in AI capabilities leads to catastrophic and irreversible loss of control in the very near term." > "Today and tomorrow’s AI systems are far more capable and dangerous than the systems we were building even six months ago."

Drop the "AI". Just Alignment Theory. It's cleaner. Alignment has and always will be a human problem.
Scott Aaronson is now teaching Alignment Theory.
