A friend of mine just witnessed a Black woman in hijab get deliberately punched in the face on the 85 Bayshore bus in Ottawa about an hour ago. She is 19.
Random woman* just smashed her face.
Her nose is broken and she was bleeding profusely. Several witnesses. Police and paramedics arrived on scene.
It is horrifying. I can’t imagine what she is going through. We will stand with her.
I refuse to accept this hatred; this vile Islamophobia. It has no place in our city. And to all those who stand against it - your allyship matters.
**it was a woman. Earlier reported as a man. Believed to have been arrested.

It’s now clear that suppressing Palestinian activism and running cover for Israel’s genocide is worse under Andy Burnham than under Keir Starmer. From banning books, academics, suppressing free speech, to endlessly weaponing antisemitism. Demonstrably worse.

Downsizing is exhausting but if you are of a certain age it is an act of love, taking responsibility instead of leaving it to people you call loved-ones to handle after you are gone or incapacitated. Ask me how I know. Take a look around and ask yourself if your life would truly be diminished if you hang on to that collection, those knick knacks, that crystal or china that none of the generations behind you want. If the answer is no do something about it. One box at time. Just get started. And if possible find a place to donate it to that benefits those currently without homes. For us, it has been cathartic and we are keeping at it. A long way to go but onward we trudge. ☺️

This is the essay the government doesn't want you to read.
Andreas Malm's overarching theory of the present — as an age of 'ultra-fossil' empire — in the new Tribune.
The rest of the issue isn't out yet, but we've released this early on our website:

Out of the 120 members of the new Knesset, only 11 hold doctoral degrees in various fields.
9 out of the 11 belong to the Arab parties, and one of them, Yosef Jabarin, also holds a professorial title.

What an absolute disgrace. Just like America the UK has foreign owners. They are completely owned. Democracy cannot exist under these circumstances. The will of the people means nothing.
Britain’s defence ministry awarded a £10 million contract to an Israeli-owned arms firm which operates under the authority of Israel's finance minister Bezalel Smotrich👇

What complete & utter bullshit! For many of us, Jewish identity & history is inextricably linked to justice, antifascism & antigenocide. It is the actions of the corrupt, racist Israeli state that endangers Jews, not the actions of those who oppose genocide in the name of universal justice, equality & antiracism
The two largest Jewish newspapers have co-written an editorial warning that if Palestine Action wins its appeal against proscription next week then the British Jewish community will feel utterly unprotected. Sadly they’re right.jewishnews.co.uk/jn-jc-rever…

The US response to my UN report fails to refute any of my legal findings that the US has murdered 244 civilians at sea. Instead it resorts to childish name-calling. I’m obviously not a terrorist sympathizer - but the US is committing extrajudicial killings ohchr.org/sites/default/file…

The notion that the safety of British Jews depends on Israel being free to commit atrocities in Palestine with impunity is both disgraceful and offensive.
Let’s be clear: these Zionist publications do not speak for all Jews, and opposition to genocide should be non-negotiable.

BREAKING: I have warned for months of the refusal, across much of Israel’s political spectrum, to recognise Palestinian citizens as legitimate coalition partners. Now, with unprecedented participation and a projected 19 of 120 Knesset seats, even the legitimacy of their electoral gains is being challenged.
The Central Election Committee, chaired by Justice Noam Sohlberg, a settler from Alon Shvut, instructs David Zini, the Director of the Israeli Security Agency to investigate bogus allegations.
There is no independent judiciary or impartial civil service in Israel, and nothing but a facade of democracy which it struggles to maintain.
With that, the danger of post-election political violence is no longer remote. I fear it may be approaching.

56% of Israeli Jews want to expel all two million Palestinian citizens of Israel.
And 82% of Israeli Jews want to expel all Palestinians in Gaza to other countries.
Imagine if @BBCNews, and the rest of the UK 'mainstream' media, reported the ugly reality of Israeli society.
Israeli journalist: "You are both first time voters. What are you voting based on?"
Israeli voter 1: "I don't want there to be Arabs in the county."
Israel voter 2: "Me neither."

Turns out, for some voters, it is the only issue they care about: creating an Palestinianrein Israel the same way the Nazis created a Judenrein Germany.

Andy Burnham has been Prime Minister for 100 days and still refuses to name Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
A UN commission reported this week that Israel’s genocide continues. 86% of genocide scholars agree.
A Prime Minister who cannot name a genocide will never stop one.

Israel is the only society to have actually voted for their government to commit genocide. Even Germany didn't do that.

With almost no media coverage, in great part because the majority of these villages were Shia, Israel has completely leveled 48 of 60 cities in Southern Lebanon.
It might be the single biggest ethnic cleansing campaign in modern history with the least international pushback.
Today, 48 of the roughly 60 villages and towns within Israeli-occupied southern Lebanon are mostly levelled, a NYT analysis has found. nytimes.com/interactive/2026…

So bolsonaro jr. has apparently fled Brazil after losing the election and is headed to US. Mere coincidence he is under investigarion for various crimes and refused to surrender his passport. So where's ICE?

Oh so now the Trump administration is welcoming immigrants with criminal histories?
I can confirm that @FlavioBolsonaro is no longer in Brazil and is on his way to the United States.
A US protective operation is underway to ensure his safety.

This headline on this date of publication with little to no media/political coverage or outrage and zero material impact on the lives and safety of Palestinians is proof that there is no such thing as international law.
It’s the law of the jungle out there, and some of you are still condemning the prey for not just dying quietly.
