OpenZeppelin is now officially a part of S&P Global. The acquisition we announced in September is finalized. OpenZeppelin’s decade of securing and building the infrastructure onchain finance runs on now meets @SPGlobal's more than a century of helping markets understand risk. Together, we can help institutions and builders move onchain with greater confidence. To our clients and to all the users of OpenZeppelin open source tools: • OpenZeppelin Contracts and all our open source applications and tools remain open source, free and publicly maintained on GitHub. • Security audits, secure development work and ecosystem programs continue with the same team, brand, quality and customer experience, now backed by S&P Global’s research capacity, market data and institutional reach. For the last decade, OpenZeppelin has set the security standard for onchain finance. Now we take it to the scale of global finance. Read the full announcement: press.spglobal.com/2026-10-2…

I am working on a comparison sheet of Arc-like browsers. docs.google.com/spreadsheets… If you are someone also interested in browsers and have tested any of these, let me know the missing or incorrect cell values so I can update.

petition to open source Arc!!
We've decided to sunset Arc on December 22, 2026. That's not an easy sentence to write. We spent years building Arc and celebrating each and every release along the way: we have so much pride and love for what we made alongside the Arc community. Our priority is to deliver best-in-class security for our members. Keeping a browser secure takes constant, dedicated work that is only increasing in the age of AI. Dia was built from the ground up to meet today’s security standards, so that's where our engineering and security teams will focus moving forward. We've worked to make switching to @diabrowser as easy as possible for Arc members. Here's how: · Your passwords, bookmarks, extensions and history come over to Dia seamlessly. · Spaces, Folders, and Tab Groups are in Dia and import over with your data intact. · Dia now surpasses Arc benchmarks in stability, speed, and security. · The browser features you use in Arc are free in Dia, and the AI is optional. Thank you for using Arc, for pushing us to make it better, and for building alongside us. The team that made Arc is the same team behind Dia, and some of our most ambitious work is just ahead. We'd love for you to be there with us when it lands.

Imagine you accomplish the herculean task of convincing people to switch off of Chrome as their default browser (something Microsoft couldn't even do with billions of dollars) and then you decide to just throw it all away.

Total solution: use AI (e.g. Claude) to migrate your PHP app to Motoko, and run it on the Internet Computer, making it *tamperproof*. Now you can modify it at will, and you'll automatically skip the next hole too.
So basically, today PHP got two critical bugs that let anyone run code on your server without even logging in, which is bad, and then the details leaked before the patch was even out, which is worse, and it works on WordPress and MediaWiki and Magento and Joomla and Laravel, and Censys says like 1.5 million servers are running a version with no fix, so the NSA was like "take your system offline," and the FBI was like "take your system offline," and CISA and the UK and CERT-EU were all like "take your system offline," and then the Prime Minister of Japan, the actual Prime Minister, posted at 5:55 in the morning telling 48.8 million people to take their system offline, so everyone took their system offline, like the Dutch cybersecurity agency took its own website offline, and the Dutch parliament went offline, and the Port of Rotterdam went offline, and Finland and France and Denmark started pulling government sites, and Wikipedia went down, and Archive.org went down, and Asana and GOG and Something Awful went down, and the University of Vienna's webmail went down for some reason, and that's just PHP. Because GitLab also dropped a CVSS 10.0, which is the highest score they give out, for a bug that's been there since 2014, so that's every self-hosted GitLab for twelve years, and then LiteLLM 1.107.0 got hijacked and shipped a credential stealer and a remote access trojan in every single wheel and the Docker images, including latest, and you didn't even have to import it, just installing it was enough, and it's the second time this year, and then Railway paused every deployment on the entire platform because someone got into the environment variables, so now everyone has to rotate every secret they've ever stored there, and TiDB Cloud said someone was walking around inside with stolen credentials for basically a month and an extortion group says they took 10.6 terabytes, and Zeabur got breached for the second time in two months and is just shutting down, like the whole company, and Node.js patched remote code execution and a TLS bypass, and CISA says Plex is being actively exploited, and someone took over 300 Tor exit relays to steal SSH passwords, and SafePay ransomware has hit over 600 critical infrastructure orgs, and India's biggest bank filed a data loss incident, and Japan has been in an official state of emergency in cyberspace since October 9, which honestly explains the 5:55 AM post. Oh, and eMudhra, a certificate authority that's issued over 60 million certificates, whose entire job is proving websites are who they say they are, was supposed to be using private keys that are random numbers over a hundred digits long, and one of them was 4. Just 4. And the others were like 66 and 237. Anyway, it's Wednesday.

We're sad to hear Arc is sunsetting later this year; we're big fans of what @arcinternet set out to do & achieved. Arc's innovations influenced some of our own features: Sidebar, Split View, and the upcoming Mini Window. If you're currently an Arc user, what features do you want to see in your next browser?

We are at Security Armageddon now. A large part of internet is affect in some way today, lots of older software vulnerabilities are coming out and through those more software is getting exploited. PHP systems like Wordpress power a big part of content websites. Malicious TLS certificates especially affect basic services and older codebases. Plus node.js, plus LiteLLM, etc etc. Uncensored models are becoming a key to enable security defenses to keep up. Formal verification allows to improve on how things are verified but still requires smart models to translate between systems and make sure formalizations are correct. We also really need to transition to models that involve cryptography where right now API keys and access tokens are used. Hosting platforms that can secure the software even from platform itself. Meanwhile, update, patch, rotate.

they genuinely think you're stupid. the API didn't have a bug. it was intentionally made read only for banned and non-yes-voting users. The API literally returned a response that stated the reason of your read-only status. When software literally prevents you from doing things, and tells you the reason explicitly was something they put into effect, there is no world in which you can call that a "bug". Those APIs are _still_ read only for users that voted no or were banned. No idea if non-voting users can use it now. You would know these things already, if they hadn't banned users that have called this out. I saw @jchaskin22 asked about this on farcaster, but of course, responding would be of minimal benefit, as they filter out my replies on their client. So tagging you here so you have direct confirmation from someone who has concrete knowledge of what happened from the other side.
Mistakes were made in an API I controlled.
