We are always looking for ways to improve our system and welcome constructive feedback from our community. Our goal is to maintain the integrity of our contests and provide a fair and enjoyable experience for all participants.
The appeals are then checked by the CodeChef team so that innocent people are not caught.
After removing false positives, we drop ratings for cheaters by 275 points before the next contest. Participants who cheat more than 3 times are banned from CodeChef.
Next, we run MOSS with custom parameters to detect more sophisticated cheating. Participants above a suspicion threshold receive emails from us, allowing them 2-3 days to appeal the verdict.
We host contests every week, so we have to finish the entire process within 6 days. Our plagiarism detection process involves several steps.
First, we catch obvious cheaters within 1-2 days of the contest using our in-house algorithms.
At CodeChef, we take plagiarism very seriously and have a rigorous process in place to ensure that cheaters are caught and innocent people are not. With over 40k participants every week and 2.5L submissions per contest, it's a complex task that we work hard to accomplish. 🧵
