three endpoint IDs under CSS truncate. all three read ep_2abcdEFGhijKL… the end is the only part that differs, and the ellipsis eats it mantle, our React library, now clips the middle and keeps the tail the cost: a ResizeObserver per cell. page the table or virtualize it? ## long URLs, without the tricks long URLs have been a pain in the ngrok dashboard for years. the usual fixes break the value into pieces or drop characters, so the page shows something that isn't the real value anymore this only changes how it looks. hover or tab to it for the whole value, one click selects all of it, and a copy gets the full URL every time for us it's the first answer to long URLs that doesn't feel like a hack ## why not flex the issue proposed flex. it lays out fine and copies wrong: Chromium and WebKit put a newline between two flex items, so a copied ID pasted as two lines two inline-block spans copy as one line in Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit (measured all three through Playwright first) that broke the screen reader name. Chromium puts a space between two inline-block boxes, so the halves are aria-hidden and a hidden span holds the whole value ## keep the ellipsis tight i wanted the ellipsis to hug the text the way plain CSS truncate does. two boxes leave a sliver of space that changes with every pixel you drag so while a value overflows, the head rounds down to whole ch cells. in a monospace font the ellipsis steps one character at a time the demos in the post run the real component from npm, so drag them yourself (haters will say it's fake)
