Memo an uns: Eure "interessanten" Pizza-Kreationen zu retweeten ist nur solange lustig, bis ECHTE Italiener den Tweet sehen. Dann ist es zusätzlich noch ein bisschen aufregend & gefährlich.

And we know that the majority of transmission (>90%) occurs indoors. Sharing the same sleeping space, frequent daily contact, engaging in group activities such as dining are high risk. So, the risk increases with longer & frequent exposure, close proximity, # of contacts. (5/n)

I really like the way @jburnmurdoch from @FinancialTimes displays daily reported #covid19 deaths. Setting data in relation to previous data shows momentum change in a really powerful way. Simple #dataviz solution that works remarkably well.

1) Are we bending/flattening the curve? In Germany, new cases have started to stagnate overall (left). But if we differentiate them by age, it's a different story: New cases only stagnate for people below 80, but for the high-risk group 80+, they are growing rapidly (right).

Germany is not shielded from high death rates. Look at Heinsberg, one of the first outbreak areas. Their first case was on 25 Feb. Today they have 1043 cases. 25 have died. After 1 month, this implies a lethality of 2.4%. COVID-19 kills slowly but systematically. #FlattenTheCurve

++ Italy's 🇮🇹 number of registered Covid-19 cases grows by 8.1%. First time it is down to single digit. Today's death toll is 601 down from 651 & 793 in the previous two days. Italy went into lockdown two weeks ago. Scientists said it would take two weeks to see some results.

That's happening 30 km away from my hometown in Italy. One of best hospital in the country. Still not enough. It's heartbreaking for me. But even more heartbreaking is to see how some people still don't get it. Please, get ready, behave and avoid avoidable deaths ❤️
"They are fighting a war here. And they are losing." @SkyNews chief correspondent @ramsaysky goes inside a hospital in Italy that is overwhelmed by coronavirus. "Their message to us is simple: Get ready."

📊 France, Spain and Germany are about 9 to 10 days behind Italy in #COVID19 progression; the UK and the US follow at 13 to 16 days. In Italy we waited too long, these countries should really start implementing aggressive containment measures now. – at Turin, Piedmont
