Soon @FirefoxNightly will have another new tool for CSS — a way to see: 1) that certain CSS isn't doing anything; and 2) why.

🔥 Here’s a performance thread (haha get it, thread?) in case it’s useful to anyone: 1️⃣ If you don’t know Intersection Observer for detecting/loading images/script/whatever, here’s a basic-example example: codepen.io/sdras/pen/cecb9e8… Docs: developer.mozilla.org/en-US/…

Just watched @SaraSoueidan's @coldfrontconf talk on "Inclusively Responsive UIs with CSS and SVG" and learned a lot. As a Mac-based developer I especially appreciated the tips on designing for Microsoft's high contrast mode: youtube.com/watch?v=TbOxPhcV…

🖊 There’s been a lot of talk about whether or not you need a degree to be in tech (spoiler: you don’t). But by not getting a degree, you’re opting to replace it with learning on your own. I wrote a post on how to teach yourself, and/or keep up to date. css-tricks.com/learning-to-l…

I'm so so proud I know @sarah_edo I can't even say it enough. I watched this her @coldfrontconf talk and the first 5mins made me feel like I was watching an emotional Netflix documentary. youtube.com/watch?v=qdlL9Z8P…

THIS. When we started @coldfrontconf we made this our mantra: We have paid our speakers an honorarium + travel since the beginning. Not a lot, but as we grown we have also increased our honorariums. Conferences are businesses, and people should get paid for their time.
Replying to @smashingmag
Dear organizers, respect your speakers. No fancy bells and whistles required; no fancy speaker dinners or speaker gifts. But always offer to pay speakers, even if it isn't much, and always cover their expenses first. Help new speakers grow. Their time, work and efforts matter. ❤️

Waving a fond farewell to Copenhagen and the marvelous people of #ColdFront18. Big love to the organisers, speakers and attendees who make the event such a delight. (And a knowing nod of respect to those who ingeniously plundered the stage decor for seating at the party) – at Copenhagen, Denmark
