My Obsidian voice transcription plugin project is already out of control. Some idiot (me) keeps giving Claude new requirements and it keeps knocking it out of the park. Despite a 2GB Nvidia model download on first run, I might bundle it up as a Community plugin, it's that good.

It's the small joys in life really. Early airport run so Child 2 can get back to Zurich. Bandon - Cork Airport - Bandon. Not a single car holding me up in either direction for the entire drive.

Oh FFS. Thank you for your concern Sam, but don’t spread your FUD and doom bait in my waters. I lead one of the most utilized Linux operating systems in the world for data centers and enterprises, and I founded its predecessor too. While AI is surely accelerating finding human created security issues, it is a temporary problem, and most open source project leads have already figured out how to also use AI to reduce new bugs moving forward. Here is a graph from GKH (who maintains the stable kernel) on how many CVEs they are remediating per release: github.com/gregkh/kernel-dev… This graph describes how much better each release is now getting: github.com/gregkh/kernel-dev… This doom based marketing approach that the AI labs are pushing is really short sighted. While this will of course drive business to us, I find it unethical to distort the truth and use scare tactics in messaging. The greater truth is that AI is making the software industry more secure, by identifying the human errors in code, and soon we will end up in a much better place.
🚨Sam Altman says the internet can no longer be SECURED by patching bugs. "I no longer think we're going to be able to just patch all the bugs," the OpenAI CEO said, warning smarter models can find "hardware level insane stuff." He says OpenAI can't responsibly open source its best model "anytime soon," but the open source world isn't far behind: "Not super."

I'm hearing that people are using external Bluetooth keyboards with their foldable phones. This is the kind of innovative thinking that could only happen with Apple products. 2008 - SSHed into an EC2 server.

Watching Network for the first time and suddenly I get why Faye Dunaway was so huge in the 60s and 70s. She absolutely owns the screen. Impossible to take your eyes off her. – at Ireland

One of those jobs I regret starting. This print head is now a mix of MK2, MK2S, MK2.5 and MK2.5S. No idea if it'll even print yet. – at Ireland

Apart from the broader problem, there is clearly a percentage with cannabis-induced psychotic disorder. Some of them absolutely need to be sectioned.

Well that's the funniest thing I've read this month. Whilst the A-Players continue to build OSS with AI, the D-Players spend their time as Reddit mods.
The r/OpenSource subreddit has officially banned anything using AI. In any way. Violators will be permanently banned. Which means… r/OpenSource will ban anyone submitting anything that, in any way, involves… the Linux kernel. reddit.com/r/opensource/comm…

I have 3 VNC sessions to 3 Linux boxes permanently up on my MBP. Every day the Mac annoys me in some way. Usually "you're not allowed to do that on MacOS since Monday". I've come to the conclusion that I should make the old Omarchy box the daily driver and remote to the Mac.
I've had enough of the constant limitations imposed by Windows and Mac. (Not to mention android and iOS...) In the agentic era we must be able to freely bend our operating systems to suit our needs at will, not beg the OS overlords for an update next year. Does Omarchy solve this?

I haven't watched Re-Animator since 1987 and really only remembered the final scene. Finally watched it again last night. Oh my god it's completely bat-shit schlocky crazy. Loved every minute. Came out 41 years ago this month and h̶a̶s̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶a̶g̶e̶d̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶i̶t̶ you can tell.

It's 2026 and I sit in my car at traffic lights on Bandon Road Roundabout at 5am, with zero traffic, waiting for them to turn, because @corkcitycouncil still uses timers. Parts of this country are still run likes it's 1966.

Heard from a neolab friend: “Even if we fail to train the best model, we locked in GPU capacity early. H100/B200/B300 rental prices have since gone up 2–3x. We can just resell the compute and print money.” OK, so that’s the business model.
