Thinking of proposing a paper critically reflecting on my teaching periodicals and digital/physical (and my assessment for this). Specifically I am teaching Gothic Short Form. Anyone interested in forming a panel either on teaching periodicals and/or Gothic and/or short form?
Call for Papers! Please spread the word. The next #englishsharedfutures will be in York, from July 3rd-5th. We've got lots of great events and special sessions planned, and warmly welcome submissions. englishsharedfutures.org/cfp #cfp

I'd be much more concerned by a politician who hasn't criticised Trump in the past than one who has. The use of this as a gotcha speaks volumes.

Evidence today of how many people would choose a criminal who trades in lies and hate rather than vote for a Black woman.

I went to a state school and I can read long novels. Twelve before breakfast on a slow news day.
Slightly shy about posting this. But I took on Sir Jonathan Bate in the Scotsman this week. I love some of his critical writing, but he’s wrong when he says that state school students have lost the ability to read long books. They just need adaptable, realistic curricula.

This is a great piece. My gorgeous niece gets transport to school, and it's outrageous to see it described as a 'perk'. It is very welcome support, and completely necessary if we want to do the best we can by children and young people.

Just watching David Attenborough talk about a polarising camera. I don't like it.

I'm all for objecting to Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff (and completely agree) but guys if Margot Robbie is coming to Haworth I'm going to be camped on that moor and wuthering my little heart out.

I'm in the early stages of organising some sort of network for people who are actively translating poetry, and publishing (or hoping to publish) their translations. If you might be interested, be in touch. And do please retweet!
