The expression describes a trial in which people may become unable or unwilling to recognize the truth, listen to sincere advice, or distinguish right from wrong.
SubhanAllah, when you look at some of the fitnah taking place today, you can understand the seriousness of this warning. People become so caught up in emotions, politics, and personalities that they no longer want to hear the truth, even when the evidence is right in front of them.
May Allah protect us from fitnah, grant us the ability to recognize the truth as truth and follow it, and recognize falsehood as falsehood and stay away from it.
