Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster.
He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals.
I wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery.

கரூர் மாவட்டத்தில் 3,084 ஏக்கர் நிலங்கள் தொடர்பாக எழுந்துள்ள விவகாரத்தில் உண்மை நிலையை, சட்டரீதியாகப் புரிந்துகொள்வது அவசியம்.
இங்கு பேசுபொருளாகியிருக்கும் அனைத்து நிலங்களும் "திருக்கோவில் சொத்துகள்" என்றல்ல; பெரும்பாலானவை இனாம் நிலங்கள் தொடர்பானவை. ஆலயங்களில் பணியாற்றிய அர்ச்சகர்கள், ஊழியர்கள் உள்ளிட்டோருக்கு விஜயநகரப் பேரரசு மற்றும் பிற ஆட்சியாளர்களால் மானியமாக வழங்கப்பட்ட இனாம் நிலங்கள், பின்னர் தமிழ்நாடு இனாம் (ரத்து மற்றும் ரயத்வாரியாக மாற்றுதல்) சட்டம், 1963 (Act 30 of 1963)-ன் கீழ் விசாரணை நடத்தப்பட்டு, தகுதியுடையவர்களுக்கு ரயத்வாரி பட்டாக்கள் வழங்கப்பட்டன.
இந்த பட்டாக்களை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு, ஆயிரக்கணக்கான விவசாயிகள் பல தசாப்தங்களாக நிலங்களை சாகுபடி செய்து, பராமரித்து, சட்டப்பூர்வமாக அனுபவித்து வருகின்றனர். ஆனால், கடந்த திமுக ஆட்சியில், இந்த பட்டா பெற்ற இனாம் நிலங்களும் கோயில் நிலங்களுடன் சேர்த்து பூஜ்ஜிய மதிப்பில் வகைப்படுத்தப்பட்டதால், அவற்றைப் பத்திரப்பதிவு செய்ய முடியாத நிலை ஏற்பட்டது. இதனால் விவசாயிகள் கடன் பெறுதல், சொத்து பரிமாற்றம் உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு சிரமங்களை எதிர்கொண்டனர்.
தற்போதைய தவெக அரசின் நடவடிக்கை, சட்டப்படி ஏற்கனவே ரயத்வாரி பட்டா பெற்ற இனாம் நிலங்களின் மீதான பதிவுத் தடையை நீக்கி, அந்த விவசாயிகளின் சட்டப்பூர்வ உரிமையை மீட்டெடுப்பதற்கானதாக இருந்தால், அதனை வரவேற்க வேண்டியதே தவிர, அதை கோவில் நிலங்களை, ஆக்கிரமிப்பாளர்களுக்கு வழங்கும் நடவடிக்கையாக சித்தரிப்பது தவறான புரிதலை ஏற்படுத்தும்.
அதே நேரத்தில், உண்மையான திருக்கோவில் சொத்துகள் எதுவும், சட்டவிரோதமாக தனியாருக்கு மாற்றப்படக் கூடாது என்பதில் எந்தவித மாற்றுக் கருத்தும் இல்லை. கோவில் சொத்துகளை பாதுகாப்பதும், சட்டப்படி உரிமை பெற்ற விவசாயிகளின் உரிமையை பாதுகாப்பதும் இரண்டுமே அரசின் பொறுப்பாகும்.
எனவே, சட்டப்பூர்வமாக ரயத்வாரி பட்டா பெற்ற இனாம் நிலங்களின் உரிமையை உறுதி செய்யும் தமிழக அரசின் நடவடிக்கையை நாங்கள் ஆதரிக்கிறோம். இது ஆயிரக்கணக்கான விவசாயிகளின் வாழ்வாதாரத்தையும், பல ஆண்டுகளாக நிலவி வந்த பதிவுச் சிக்கல்களையும் தீர்க்கும் ஒரு முக்கியமான நடவடிக்கை.

Essential background of how the Inam lands originated, how they function, and why they cause so much legal friction today:
1. The Origin: Lands Gifted for Service
Historically, Hindu kings, chieftains, and later the British East India Company did not always pay temple priests, artisans, astronomers, or caretakers in cash. Instead, they gifted them tracts of revenue-generating land.
These gifts fell into two broad categories:
- Melvaram (Revenue Assessment): The state gave up its right to collect land revenue/taxes from that land, transferring that financial benefit to the individual or the temple.
- Kudivaram (Occupancy Rights): The right to actually possess, cultivate, and physically occupy the soil.
2. The Crucial Distinction: Personal vs. Institutional
Inam lands were rarely given as unconditional private property. They were almost always tied to a strict condition:
- Devadana / Thiruvidaiyattam: Lands granted directly to the presiding deity of a temple. The temple owned the title.
- Service Inams (Archana Bhogam, Bhattavritti, etc.): Lands granted to individuals (like priests, musicians, or cooks) on the condition that they perform specific spiritual or physical duties at the temple.
The Legal Catch: The land was meant to be an auxiliary source of income to sustain the person performing the service. If the individual stopped performing the service, the temple—or the state—retained the legal right to resume (take back) the land. It was never meant to be sold or alienated as absolute private property.
Think of it as residential quarters given to staff of a factory. Is it possible for any staff who has retired to sell the property? Shouldn't it be handed back for the next set of employees or to the company at the very least?
These are the core issues of Karur Land issue that is being played as political football by @TVKVijayHQ , @CMOTamilnadu and @RameshOffcl today.
