BASH: The worry is that we end up in a situation where President Trump tries to overturn the election and the result of that could be like what we saw after January 6--
BLANCHE: Stop it! You gotta stop it with that! That's crazy
BASH: This is a president who has a history

Reactogenicity of Nuvaxovid
This is part 5 of 7 from @paulseaman31 and my document compiling available information setting out some of the main differences between #Nuvaxovid and the more common mRNA based #COVID vaccines.🧪🧵1/

On one hand we have flock cameras locating the f out of us, and on the other hand we have “oh covid,
we absolutely can’t locate that”, it’s just basic effort

I'm so impressed with CC people in their 20s and 30s. Developmentally, it's just a very difficult time in general, focused on "launching," so there is a lot of pressure surrounding relationships, education, and work.
Since pandemic onset, you have lived through immense threats, which much of society stopped acknowledging in 2022. That can create immense stigma, isolation, and alienation. You may be dealing with health issues or caregiving for family earlier than anticipated, or both.
These challenges are often much harder if money is especially tight, or you're a part of an underrepresented or minoritized group or groups. It's just difficult in so many way.
Anyway, you're the best. I see you. You're way ahead of your time. Keep fighting. 💪😷

I met an old friend recently, someone I haven't seen in years. Immediately noticing my mask, he said, 'are you still worried about Covid?'. I replied, 'yes'. He then said, 'Why? Sure everyone's had it now'. I don't think he understood when I then said, 'that's why I'm worried'.

Just saw someone (no mask)post how happy they are to get their Covid vaccine & how they're going going out to dinner later to celebrate. Most people think vaccination on its own is a magic bullet for prevention. PUBLIC HEALTH FAILURE.

A rare personal post, of sorts. If you haven't seen this masterpiece of television, I strongly recommend that you do. It is, by far, the best TV I have ever seen. In fact, I often (half) joke to friends that this series ruined television for me, because I judge everything by it.

For those at the back who weren't paying attention:
It's not just about the first couple of weeks of an infection
It's about the problems it causes that you don't even see until three or six or twelve or sixty months or two hundred months after the infection.

When I talk to people about the ongoing impact of COVID, I find it helpful to lead with a concrete, undeniable indicator, which is that there are about 3,000,000 more disabled workers in the US than at pandemic onset.

Cognitive phenotypes and neuropsychological trajectories in post-COVID-19 syndrome: a 12-month follow-up study
🚨LongC0VID brains: memory often rebounds within a year, but attention and processing speed stay stuck. New 12-month study of 92 patients shows selective recovery, not full return to baseline. The daily life consequences...... 👇😧
➡️This again interesting Spanish 12-month longitudinal study followed 92 adults with post-COVID19 syndrome (PCS: mean age ~49 years, predominantly women) who had previously undergone comprehensive neuropsychological assessment,
➡️Participants were retested after roughly 1 year using the same battery covering attention/processing speed, memory, executive functions, visuospatial abilities, and language,
➡️Pre–post comparisons (Wilcoxon tests with FDR correction) showed significant gains mainly in verbal memory (learning and recall measures), visual memory, matrix reasoning, inhibitory control, and certain action-processing tasks (fluency and naming),
➡️In contrast, attention and processing-speed measures remained largely unchanged,
➡️Using a domain-based phenotype approach, the proportion of participants classified as having normal cognition increased (from 65.1 % to 77.1 % at the −1 SD cutoff and from 83.1 % to 86.7 % at the stricter cutoff),
➡️Residual impairment was predominantly single-domain and driven by attention/processing speed,
➡️Multi-domain profiles that persisted also frequently involved this domain,
➡️Exploratory analyses linked neither cognitive reserve nor affective symptoms strongly to trajectories,
➡️The sample characteristics note that 51 % reported COVID-19 reinfection and 90 % were vaccinated. The study does not analyse or report any specific effects of reinfection or vaccination status on cognitive trajectories, phenotypes, or recovery rates,
➡️Overall, the data indicate selective, partial cognitive recovery in PCS, with attention and processing speed emerging as the most persistent vulnerabilities.
‼️So, one year later, memory and some higher-level thinking skills improved in people with LongC0VID syndrome, yet attention and processing speed barely recovered, leaving a lasting vulnerability.
In everyday terms: trouble focusing and thinking quickly can still make ordinary things harder, staying concentrated while driving in traffic, flying as a pilot, keeping up with a complicated conversation, meeting work deadlines, or using phones and computers without getting overwhelmed.
Memory often gets better (so people may forget less), but the stubborn attention problems can leave them slower, more mentally drained, and make it tougher to fully get back to work or social life even when other thinking skills improve. Sound familiar???

In 2016, I was the Clinton campaign general counsel.
In 2022, Trump sued me and others for RICO. The case was dismissed. Trump and his lawyers were sanctioned.
Now, he has asked SCOTUS to take the case.
I will never back down. I will never stop fighting. When we fight we win.

These numbers are just staggering. The gratuitous suffering, the Long COVlD, the excess deaths. The wave of infections is now well higher than Delta, not far off the highest October levels all-time.

🇫🇮 Finland calls on the EU to completely stop issuing tourist visas to Russians
Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo plans to put forward the proposal at next week's European Council meeting.
According to Orpo, European countries issued 800,000 tourist visas to Russians last year, while Finland issued none.
Orpo justified his proposal by citing the threat of Russian sabotage operations across Europe.
“If we fear that Russia is trying to carry out acts of sabotage in Europe, why on earth are we so naive as to let them in as tourists and allow them to move around freely?” the Finnish prime minister asked.
Finland stopped issuing tourist visas to Russians back in 2022 and has kept its land border with Russia closed since December 2023.
Now Helsinki wants to extend these visa restrictions across the entire European Union.

There’s an article in Time today about how to deal with coworkers showing up sick and the anxiety of “breathing the same air as them” meanwhile the second someone wears a mask it’s an all day punch down fest about how they’re crazy and have OCD make it make sense
"Your colleague has a fever. They make all of this clear as they sit down next to you in that stuffy conference room with a door someone has helpfully just closed. You're concerned about spending the next hour breathing the same air. What can you politely say?"
