Andy Burnham MP for Makerfield has been Prime Minister for 1 week. Energy prices, housing crisis, rough sleeping, local democracy need urgent action, as does nature recovery, and climate action. Do keep fossils in the ground!

Delighted with this impact. CPRE plays pivotal role in 1,300 homes rejection on Lancashire farmland. This was always an unsustainable site. Use brownfield first.

Sounds like CPRE messages are cutting through! Brownfield first! Green Belt as a last resort. Better transport and other infrastructure and houses in the right place for the right reasons. Stop right to buy as it has eroded social housing stock. #bbcqt
Makerfield in Wigan should consider how future candidates will look after rural areas #bbcqt

This year's big question: how can we achieve our goal of protecting 30% of our land and sea by 2030?
Time is running out for nature.
At this year's Wild Summit, we will bring together communities, campaigners and politicians at the UK's biggest nature conference, to ensure nature restoration is at the top of the political agenda in the run up to 2030.
Will you be joining us?

We hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine. Eid Mubarak to all our Muslim friends who help us look after Lancashire's countryside. @MUSLIMHIKERS
We welcome the land use framework, but storing carbon is peats role, it should not be used for wind turbines, and all solar should go on rooftops, car parks, and other wasted space so green fields ard used for food production or nature's recovery.
Government says 6% of England’s total land will need to undergo land-use change to benefit climate & nature. Activities classified this way include peatland restoration & woodland creation – which Defra emphasises are vital to farm resilience in any case.edie.net/land-use-framework-…

Britain is on track to miss its legally binding nature recovery targets.
That means fewer species, weaker ecosystems and risks to the food security we rely on.
This isn’t inevitable.
Labour can turn it around with a properly funded nature rescue plan.
This is a very interesting podcast with Mark Wakeford chair of the National Builders Federation and Solar Taskforce and CPRE's campaign lead. Well worth a listen.

Polls show the public want stronger protections for nature — not weaker ones.
Backwards steps risk turning the nature crisis into a catastrophe.
Don’t cross these Red Lines.
