Many if not all streets that can be closed to cars once/week for a farmers market could probably just be closed to cars all the time.

I hope the absolute rutabaga of a man driving his TX plated car through DC with a huge custom vinyl sticker proclaiming "J 4 J6" on his back window leaves it unattended for 3 minutes in this city.

Love living in my third world country where my electricity goes out because of [checks notes] a light rain. 🙃

When the #DCBikeParty ends across the street at bedtime, and there is no chance of your kid falling asleep anytime soon, so you let her go across the street to lose her goddamned mind dancing.

Aww, the little cute boy next door when we moved here 8 years ago is "girlfriend's dad pounding on the all the doors on the block at 1am" years old now!

Lol - why would I bother wasting more of my time? I tried to contact you three different ways before putting anyone on blast. I already had to arrange childcare for this just to get disappointed. My tweet has everything you need to know. Fix your own shit.

Shout out to this guy on AirBnB who had the confidence to hang a Klimt canvas like this.

Sidenote: is there a single AirBnB rental that doesn't have a ridic cleaning fee tacked on? They basically increase the nightly price by 50-100%. Hotels just roll that into the rate and are still cheaper.

If you support home rule, then whether you support specific statutes is irrelevant.
I support D.C. Statehood and home-rule – but I don’t support some of the changes D.C. Council put forward over the Mayor’s objections – such as lowering penalties for carjackings. If the Senate votes to overturn what D.C. Council did – I’ll sign it.

Holy cow this is good. Jon Stewart easily lures a pro-gun/anti-drag queen Republican into a trap…and then blasts him over his blatant, shameless hypocrisy.

When I moved to Florida, some kids in my middle school would get themselves to school via boat. When that drawbridge next door was stuck open (at least a couple times a year), the boater kids would take walkers across the intracoastal so they could still get home.

They stole this vibrant public space from us so they could rent it out for expensive private events with less hassle. – at Washington, DC
Believe it or not this used to be completely full with people on a Tuesday at 10:44 AM. Not just travelers either. Business meetings. Senate staffers out to coffee or early lunch. Remote workers sitting at one of the now shuttered businesses. And yes, travelers waiting for 🚂

Why can I report dog park issues to @311DCgov but not playground repair requests or environmental noise issues? There isn't even a "not here? send us an email" option. Ugh.
