"Everyone's so pleased, because it puts kidney disease on the map a bit, and lets people know about the work that we all do together. I'm the person getting the award, but it's what we do together that's made that possible."

Ifrah has been fortunate enough to have received kidney transplants from two living donors. One from her uncle, Ijaz, in 2003 when she was 13, and another from her brother, Adeel, in 2020.
In September, she will be celebrating her fourth kidneyversary.
βMy kidneys were in acute failure, and Iβd had a cardiac arrest. One doctor even said to my mum, βIf you believe in a god, nowβs the time to pray.β I was in a coma for three days and my parents were told it was a miracle I survived.
"If it wasnβt for my family members, goodness knows how long I would have been on the waiting list. My uncle and brother have been my lifelines, so hopefully people can see the impact this has made.β
