Here are the people that are posting to social media under fake accounts to stir you up emotionally and use you:
1. Existential Risk Groups
PauseAI: Founded in Utrecht in 2023 by Joep Meindertsma, this network advocates for a global temporary halt on training frontier models.
ControlAI: An offshoot associated with Connor Leahy’s AI startup Conjecture.
Stop Killer Robots: A professionalized global coalition of over 180 NGOs (including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International) targeting the deployment of AI in autonomous weaponry and military technology.
2. Radical Offshoots and Extremist Factions
Stop AI:
Formed in 2024 by activists who split from PauseAI specifically to pursue disruptive civil disobedience.
Lone Actors:
The most extreme incidents—such as the recent firebombing attempt at an OpenAI facility—have been traced by law enforcement to lone-wolf actors carrying anti-AI manifestos and security analysts note that hyper-catastrophic tech narratives can radicalize isolated individuals.
