Kentucky Republicans have tried to take away Governor Beshear’s ability to appoint Mitch McConnell’s replacement. Beshear says he’s considering ignoring the state legislature and appointing a Democrat to replace McConnell anyway.
He believes the law is unconstitutional, that Kentucky’s constitution gives him the authority, and that he’s prepared to test the GOP on it.
This is exactly how Democrats should be fighting.

I’ve never been the biggest J.J. Abrams fan & it’s unlikely I ever will be, but credit where it’s due: his 2009 Star Trek film really holds up well & is excellent filmmaking. This movie definitely meets the Star Trek standard. It helps when Zachary Quinto & Chris Pine knock it out of the park, as does the entire cast. This is a damn good film, folks.

ICE detain father at traffic stop—leave 5-year-old abandoned alone in back seat.
Agent drove car from where dad was arrested—to an empty parking lot.
Left 5-year-old son locked in car.
"I couldn’t get out of car," boy said. "Police didn't want me to."
Mom was far away at work — she eventually managed to contact his babysitter to come get her son.
But their car was also stopped by agents who demanded proof of citizenship.
Incident occurred in Robertsdale, Alabama—about 25 miles east of Mobile.
