.@signalapp - very cool blog about an application of oblivious RAM. signal.org/blog/building-fas… . This is neat. I had the privilege of working on CDS in the past, brings back memories of the oblivious table scan.

Here is a new poem from @TheAmandaGorman, “Hymn for the Hurting” — written after the mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, this week. nyti.ms/3MUQ7zZ

Thanks @steveklabnik, Florian, and Pietro for your contributions to the Rust project over the years! blog.rust-lang.org/2022/01/3…
Playing around with RISC-V soft cores on FPGAs this holiday season. Some of my ramblings: github.com/cbrune/fpga-riscv. Shout out to #LiteX and #ULX3S for great projects.

Fiddling with some open source FPGA tooling this evening. At the end of the day I source a shell fragment to set some environment variables... The '80s called and they want their workflow back.

Signal has no data to sell, no advertisers to sell it to, no investors to benefit from such a sale. As a nonprofit, the sole beneficiaries of Signal are the people who use it, so it is up to the people using Signal to sustain it: signal.org/blog/become-a-sig…

I wandered into an emacs-SF Meetup during my lunch break today: meetup.com/Emacs-SF/events/2… -- it was AWESOME. Irrespective of your editor, with remote work you miss out on picking up little tricks and config from coworkers in person. The Meetup was so refreshing.

Our awesome dog Coco on the 3 year anniversary of her "gotcha" day. There's not a ball she won't fetch.

In December I made a Rust ping client for giggles. A small IPv6 patch I made to libpnet landed recently, so my toy project builds. Much praise for the libpnet folks. github.com/cbrune/pring

Some facts from the project: 1. Writing Rust programs is fun. 2. Networking is fun. 3. ICMP is a really weird protocol. 4. Rust std::net has lots to say about TCP and UDP, but zilch to say about ICMP.

Why do C programmers abbreviate the shit out of things? The name of the subsystem is "rock" (which is a pretty nice and short prefix), but hey let's abbreviate that to "rck". It's the 21st Century and vowels cost as much as consonants.

We have been adding new servers and extra capacity at a record pace every single day this week nonstop, but today exceeded even our most optimistic projections. Millions upon millions of new users are sending a message that privacy matters. We appreciate your patience.

rust-osdev.com/this-month/20… The folks at rust-osdev are killing it. The bootimage and bootloader crates look very interesting!
