Yo Pads, ppppppppopower greed?
CoinPoker’s October rake change, run through my rake calculator:
NL200 6-max: 10.2 → 14.6 bb/100
NL1K HU vs a VIP: 7.1 → 22.9 bb/100
They also raised the ante from 0.16bb to 0.25bb, so in starting pots per 100 hands:
6-max: 4.1 → 4.9
HU: 3.9 → 11.4

WHATTTTTTTTT
Coin Poker is no longer paying commission to affiliates on players it deems as “net withdrawers” on their site.
It’s a really bad situation for affiliates who have focused mostly on their pro networks and it’s understandable why Coin Poker would do this for sustainability purposes.
My take is is it should be on the affiliate level, not the player level.
Affiliates live off of a few high volume players usually…think 80/20 rule. 80% of your rake will come from 20% of the players in your affiliate downline.
Losing players don’t typically rake much because they lose quickly. They don’t come back as often either. High volume winning players usually live off of rake back and have a much higher lifetime EV to an affiliate.
This makes it completely unfair to an affiliate who has a player come in and lose $5,000 without much volume and then has a player win $5,000 (rakeback included) with 10x the rake and affiliate gets $0 of that rake when their affiliate downline took net zero liquidity from player pool.
I like the idea but the execution is done poorly by choosing to do this at a player level.
Why do short-stacked players have a theoretical edge in poker?
Suppose we're playing a 3-handed cash game (no ICM), two players have 300bb, the third has 20bb.
The short-stacked player knows--with absolute certainty--that they're playing 20bb effective, so they can optimize their strategy for that stack depth.
The deep-stacked players don't know if the hand will be 20 or 300bb effective, so they must compromise between deep-stacked and short-stacked strategy.
So as with most structural advantages in poker, it comes down to information asymmetry.
Short-stacked cash game strategies are wildly underrated in tough games for three reasons:
1) Shorter stacks mean lower variance. That means fwer less brutal downswings. Most people play worse when after running bad, so this improves your results from a performance standpoint.
2) Better risk-adjusted return improves optionality, and lower variance means you can shot-take higher stakes more aggressively (40bb eff = roughly half the bankroll requirements of 100bb) according to the Kelly criterion.
3) Cash game regs have no idea how to play vs a shortstack. Take them into a deep dark forest where 1+1=3, and the path out is only wide enough for one.
4) If everyone else is deep, over the course of one orbit the lone short-stacked player has a significant theoretical edge. A big stack can be an advantage, but it can also be a liability.
Here I measure the GTO winrate of a short-stacked (25bb) player when everyone else is deep (200bb), with 5% rake and a 1bb cap. The shortstack strategy outperforms the full-stacked one by 8.7bb per orbit!
Now, practically speaking I think you should play deep in soft games since a lot of your edge comes from fish stacking off too wide. But in tougher lineups there's a real argument to be made for playing short.

Yes, confirmed by BBC, Reuters, Guardian, AP and others. A suspected cyber attack hit refrigeration systems at dozens of supermarkets in Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, Estonia, Ireland, the Netherlands and Finland today. Temperatures were remotely raised (often to ~50°C), spoiling food. Similar to the October France incident. Scale is limited so far, not nationwide.
Welcome!
Spent a week in Portugal breaking every rule the NHS ever gave.
I ate eggs daily. I had steak. I ate local sardines, cheese and bacon. Nothing out of a packet with 47 ingredients. And I sat in the sun with no factor 50.
I slept like a baby and my nervous system had a full factory reset. No supplements, no app, just sun and real food.
Meanwhile the locals in their 80s were marching up hills I needed a sit-down after.
People talk about the Mediterranean diet like it's all vegetables and olive oil.
But the reality is grilled fish, pork, lamb, eggs, cheese, animal fat. And red wine. People walking everywhere, sitting in the sun, eating late and slowly with family, and having a nap when they felt like it. Nobody rushing, nobody grazing on "healthy snacks", nobody living on cortisol and a meal deal.
That's why they live longer. Not because someone drizzled oil on a lettuce leaf. It's the whole way they live, and you can't sell that in a bottle at the supermarket.

Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified.
The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far.
Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete.
As an immediate precaution, Binance has:
- temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed;
- revoked the affected address authorisation;
- engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds.
Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice.
Please rely only on official Binance channels for updates. Please feel free to contact Binance Customer Support if you have any further questions.
