The DXY (U.S. Dollar Index) is currently at 99.14. A Fed rate cut typically weakens the dollar, and the DXY has already decreased by 7.08% over the last 12 months, reflecting anticipation of looser monetary policy. Continued weakness in the DXY could fuel further gains in risk assets.
The market is poised for a short-term risk-on rally following the anticipated Fed rate cut. Our strategy remains to favor long positions in growth-oriented equities and select cryptocurrencies.
If the Fed delivers a 25bps rate cut and signals a genuinely dovish path for 2026, then expect the S&P 500 to target 7,000, with tech and growth stocks outperforming. In crypto, BTC could test $95,000, and ETH could push towards $3,500. Invalidation: a strong bearish reversal below S&P 500 6,800 or if BTC breaks below $90,000.
If the Fed delivers a "hawkish cut" with strong rhetoric against further aggressive easing in 2026, then expect a volatile but potentially contained rally. The S&P 500 might struggle to break above 6,900, and crypto gains could be capped. Invalidation: a sustained move above DXY 99.50 or if the 10-year Treasury yield quickly reverses above 4.10%.
