I work in a small, rural hospital. Stayed extra after my shift yesterday to shuffle beds, grab call lights, and answer phones while the ER dealt with 3 traumas and a full house after dozens of COVIDs all day. At one point the ER was bringing beds with people to clear bays..
Hey, @UHC, HOW THE HELL DO YOU THINK IT'S OKAY TO NOT HAVE AN IN-NETWORK PROVIDER WITHIN 1000 MILES OF MY PATIENT? This is ludicrous.
Hey friends who have attended @UUtah and are an RM... I have a coworker who cannot get the U to switch his residency from his mission state despite living in Utah rest of life and for the last year. Any tips? Who to contact?
Things I do for my job that's not included job description: had a patient with high altitude pulmonary edema who had driven from east coast to mile high basin surrounded by mountains. Needed to drive home on O2 and I found the route with fewest amount of elevation changes.
Nothing like chest pressure and left hand numbness with a post op patient in the last hour of a shift to get me to wake up.
Today a patient tried to tell me the Holter monitor we ordered that's connected to wifi is causing their BP MAP of 145. Of course, this person has hx of stroke so that's going well.
I'm new to prior authorizations and it's taken me very little time to come to the conclusion that @Accredo is detrimental to the health of their clients. I would not be surprised if their have been deaths from their negligence. I don't understand how they're allowed to exist.
in their mind. I came out of the room and cried. For the hell us #healthcare workers went through, for the disregard of our trauma, for the people who died who denied it to their dying breath, for the family members who didn't take it seriously until they were gone. I hope we
learn from it, some day. I hope we work through our trauma. I hope we don't forget what we went through, both #hcws and patients. Because the world won't survive this again.
Its surreal when a kid I grew up with faces one of the worst fears we as parents have with his own kid. I haven't talked to Brodie in nearly 20 years, the nausea I felt hearing this... I know what it's like to go into debt to try to keep your kid alive.

I've moved from a #medsurg unit to #privatepractice and if there's one thing that took me by surprise was the amount of free food we get brought to us. #drugreps
New boss (okay, she's been in for several months) is promising to take everyone off the schedule who hasn't completed education. Not sure if it's a threat or promise. I'm tempted to see if she'll follow through because a day off after the 14 hr shift I had yesterday seems great.
But I also don't know who would step up to cover shifts. She says she, house supervisors, and chief nursing officer will. But... I think it would be good for them to work a #medsurg floor again. My fear is it would just fall on other coworkers instead. Already short staffed.
When you try to check in with night shift to see what hell you might be headed into in the AM, but no one is texting you back after several hours. 😳😬😵 #medsurg #medtwitter
