Researchers mathematically proved that AI will cause something worse than mass unemployment. They call it ā€œThe Tragedy of the Cognitive Commons.ā€ Every industry relies on a shared pool of deep professional expertise. This expertise doesn't just magically appear. It regenerates generation after generation. How? Through struggle. Junior employees do the hard, repetitive, frustrating work. In exchange, they slowly build what researchers call "Internalized Mastery." But right now, AI is completely annihilating junior-level work. Companies are celebrating massive productivity boosts by automating the entry-level grind. (Anthropic’s own data shows their technical junior hiring has plunged 33% as AI agents take over the pipeline). It looks like efficiency. But it is actually a time bomb. The researchers highlight a concept called the "Validation Tether." Effective human oversight of AI depends entirely on deep domain expertise. When an AI hallucinates or makes a critical error, a human expert catches it. The experts validating AI outputs today look competent because they spent a decade doing the grunt work before AI existed. The terrifying question the paper asks is this: Who comes after them? When the current generation of experts retires, there will be no one left with the Internalized Mastery required to spot when the machine is wrong. We are completely severing the pipeline that creates human competence. We are trading our long-term intellectual independence for short-term productivity boosts. Every time you let AI bypass the struggle, you are borrowing expertise from the future. And the interest rate is our ability to think for ourselves.

Why would the US Justice Department remove a study from its website last week that concluded that far-right extremists have killed far more Americans than any other domestic terror group? . The now-archived report, titled "What National Institute of Justice Research Tells Us About Domestic Terrorism," was reportedly removed from the DOJ's website between September 11 and 12, according to Jason Paladino, an independent investigative reporter. Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was killed on September 10 while speaking at a campus event at Utah Valley University. In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s death, President Trump and others in the administration have repeatedly claimed that ā€œthe radical left causes tremendous violenceā€ and that they ā€œseem to do it in a bigger wayā€ than groups on the right. This study, based on research spanning three decades, represented one of the most comprehensive government assessments ever of domestic terrorism patterns. It found that ā€œmilitant, nationalistic, white supremacist violent extremism has increased in the United Statesā€ and that ā€œthe number of far-right attacks continues to outpace all other types of terrorism and domestic violent extremismā€. Amidst all the accusations from the administration, we republished a piece examining political violence by Art Jipson and Paul J. Becker from the University of Dayton, which found that most domestic terrorists in the US are politically on the right, and right-wing attacks account for the vast majority of fatalities from domestic terrorism. You can read the piece down below. The stock market is down but at least everything is more expensive and services are getting shittier. On the other hand we have more measles. To be fair, they are finally delivering the reductions in FAA and National Parks staff that people have been demanding.

RIP Big Cat 2008-2025 You were simultaneously the biggest asshole and most lovable creature I’ve ever known. Never thought I’d be so sad about a cat, but here I am in tears over you. The house seems empty and quiet without your Big personality. You will be missed immensely. 😿

Who gives a shit. He did literally everything by the book and delivered incredible results for this country and none of it was enough for you. Fuck reputation, fuck norms that only Dems are supposed to follow. I hope Joe pardons every fucking person he wants.
Now let’s see if Biden issues a pardon for his brother too. If he does, well, he really will have blown what little was left of his reputation of putting country ahead of even family to complete and utter smithereens.

Whether it's Republicans Donald Trump, Matt Gaetz, and Pete Hegseth sexually assaulting women, or Democrats Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, and Hillary Clinton being women, both sides have serious political baggage with respect to gender.
