"AI will replace designers."
That sentence was everywhere when I took my first real break after 12 years of nonstop work.
So I decided to find out for myself.
I spent the next few weeks vibe coding my own tools, building an LLM Wiki, and shipping a full portfolio with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and Hermes. No dev handoff.
Here is what I found:
AI does not replace designers. It raises the ceiling.
But only for designers who can bring taste, intention, judgment, and quality.
Yes, designer jobs are getting harder to find. That part is real.
But after going deep into AI, something unexpected happened. My hunger for design came back stronger than ever. I had forgotten how much I love making things.
We're at the beginning of a new era where designers can build ideas much closer to the final product. I wanted to embrace that shift instead of watching it happen.
So I rebuilt my portfolio from scratch using AI as part of the creative process. It's just a small first step, but I'm excited to see where it leads.

I am currently open to my next design opportunity, especially with teams that care deeply about product quality, AI-native workflows, and building great products.
Most fonts use fixed kerning tables set by the designer. This tool breaks a single kerning value down into the shape-based reasons each letter contributes.
It doesn't just shrink everything either. For "rn," one letter pushes for more space (+23) while the other pulls for less (5), a deliberate tension to stop "rn" from blending into an "m."
It even shows this through ink density, rendering the letterform as a little cluster of dots instead of just a number.
Everything's AI AI AI lately, so stumbling on this.
While AI races for speed, I still believe great design lives in the obsession. The endless testing, the heated debates over a single button’s placement or its naming. those relentless moments of refinement are what I love most about being a designer.

When you're building something from the ground up with people you care about and really respect, it's truly one of the most enjoyable experiences a human can have.
But when @ItsAlwaysZonny says we were scraping by, he really means this. It was never easy. It was incredibly hard, with many, many sleepless nights and a lot of uncertainty.
HOWEVER.
Seeing our team members on Slack at 4 AM responding to messages, fixing bugs, and ideating on a better UX — it kept our dream alive.
Now we're finally here, launching mainnet.

We were scraping by with a vision and an MVP, luckily they saw it. I like to think more importantly they saw the prowess of the team we were putting together.
2 years later, we're launching on @binance.
