Does the British trade envoy to Israel have any idea what he's talking about?
The vast majority of Jewish Israelis oppose any Palestinian involvement in a new government.
Netanyahu ran a hate campaign against the Palestinian parties to mobilise his base.
He's now launched a campaign to demand the state crack down on baseless allegations that the "Arab parties stole the election".
The involvement of Ra'am in the 2021-22 government produced a backlash which helped Netanyahu regain power.
This man has no idea what he's talking about.
A blind cheerleader for Israel who is also painfully stupid.

It is unsurprising that Zionist surveys deny Palestinian identity. And yet over 440,000 Palestinian voters in Israel just voted to the Joint List that defines itself as representing Palestinian citizens & Earlier internal public opinion surveys shows an overwhelming majority.

@grok, what percentage of Israeli Arabs refer to themselves as palestinian?

“Anyone who tries to erase the voices of Arab citizens is surrendering to Netanyahu and giving up on Israel,” says the leader of one of Israel’s main opposition parties.
Let’s see if the rest of the Israeli opposition agrees, or decides to be not much different from Netanyahu and his allies after all.
I think this is right

The refusal to partner with Palestinian Arab parties is not just about losing chance to replace Netanyahu government- it also has real implications for Israel’s already flawed democracy, for basic civil rights and will encourage further destruction of liberal institutions.

Netanyahu’s claim that “Arabs stole the election” is to control the discourse and delegitimize the Palestinian citizens from any governance
Wonder how all those British commentators who worked themselves into such a lather with @ZackPolanski and the Green 'Zionism is Racism' motion, are squaring their convictions with the awkward fact that Netanyahu would actually have packed his bags by now and conceded if, well, Zionism wasn't racist & it was OK for mainstream Israeli parties to enter coalitions with moderate Palestinian ones.
As it is, we are probably in for another massively racist and genocidal government, quite possibly led by Netanyahu...

It’s amazing how the Palestinians are both the most invisible and excluded from Israeli politics and yet the most ever present, consequential and relevant.

Spoke with @SalmaCNN this morning on Israel’s exit polls, why we still have to wait for final results and why excluding the Palestinian populations high turnout and right to impact their political future is the big story of this election

If Israel wasn’t a Jewish supremacist society [“Zionist] then all the headlines today would be that Netanyahu lost and that a strong Jewish-Arab government in Israel that champions democracy and personal security can place a way forward

Good analysis from @AnshelPfeffer
It goes without saying that on a historic election night for the Arab voters, in which they’ve elected an unprecedented number of MKs, Netanyahu has just totally disregarded them as equal citizens. But that was to be expected. What’s more disappointing (though sadly not very surprising) is that the Jewish opposition leaders didn’t make any gesture in their speeches to the Arabs either, and spoke of a “Zionist” government. They deserve to lose to Netanyahu.

So no olive branch from Netanyahu to the opposition, but he isn’t claiming either that his coalition is going to win. Instead he’s stressing his camp’s “Zionist” and “Jewish” majority and delegitimising any idea of a government supported by the Arab parties.
It’s not a victory speech. It’s an election speech. The election isn’t over. It could be just beginning.
He still hopes the numbers and a few defectors can somehow add up to a majority, or one of the opposition parties caves, but he’s already preparing the ground for the next election campaign in early 2027.
The other main element in the speech was of course Iran. Which, together with his friend Trump, Israel has a “one-off opportunity” to defeat “once and for all.”
Netanyahu’s strategy now is clear.
1. He’s lost his Knesset majority but he’s going to make sure no-one else can form a government
2. Launch a 3rd war with Iran, which of course will finally topple the regime
3. Then a quick election which he will win handily.
