When you’re healing from someone, you might convince yourself that they were the greatest love you’ll ever experience. That you’ll never feel that deeply for anyone else again. But remember this: the love you gave them was yours. They didn’t create your ability to love deeply. You already had that in you. They were simply the person you chose to share it with. Their absence doesn’t take away your capacity to love, and losing them doesn’t mean you’ve lost the part of yourself that made that love possible. Give yourself credit for the love you gave. It was never theirs to own. It was yours, and it still is.
