decided to start practicing my doubles by doing some improvised duets with myself! these are my 2 favourite woodwind doubles to play & although this is far from perfect, I'm working on em 💪🏼

a snippet of Oscar Peterson's Hymn To Freedom- a tribute to my dad, who died 2 years ago today. he loved Oscar, and the album this tune is on was the first jazz record I listened to with him. hope he's listening, wherever he is 🎵

20 years ago today, this young man was driven to a remote rural area of Wyoming. He was was robbed, pistol whipped, tortured, tied to a fence in near freezing temperatures and left to die. He survived 6 days before he finally passed.
He was gay. His name was Matthew Shepard.

a prof said something that resonated with me last week: "treat school like a 9-5 job. come in at 8 or 9 and stay on task for 8 hours, then leave your work at school and use the evening for 'me time'." it was really important for me to hear & I'll be using it till recital season
