Electric aircraft are proving their safety advantage in real-world operations.
At Tampa International Airport, Joby’s electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and Beta’s electric conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) aircraft completed demonstration flights as part of the FAA’s Advanced Air Mobility Integration Pilot Program.
These aircraft are notably quieter than traditional helicopters and fixed-wing planes, reducing noise exposure for communities near flight paths while operating with highly intuitive controls that simplify piloting and minimize the chance of human error.
During the event, an 8-year-old successfully flew a full simulated route from TPA to the Raymond James Stadium area on a SunTrax simulator and landed hard but safely, illustrating how accessible and forgiving the controls are even for inexperienced users.
Florida’s investment in infrastructure, policy, and testing is helping establish electric aircraft as a safer, quieter next step in aviation.
The demonstration included Joby (eVTOL) and Beta (CTOL) aircraft. It was neat to see the landings at TPA but also observe how quiet they are compared to traditional rotary fixed wing aircraft.
They also have very intuitive controls. At the simulator we have at SunTrax Mason (8yrs old) was able to fly a simulated route from TPA to the Raymond James Stadium area. He landed hard, but safely.
Italy’s skies are getting a quieter and safer upgrade.
Archer Aviation and ITA Airways are exploring an all-electric air taxi network that could turn the hour-long trip from Rome’s center to Fiumicino into a 10-minute flight.
Midnight is built with distributed electric propulsion (12 motors) for high redundancy and is designed to be virtually inaudible from the ground, addressing the two biggest barriers to public acceptance of air taxis: safety and noise.
With hundreds of test flights already completed, including piloted operations in complex urban airspace, the aircraft is advancing through rigorous FAA certification.
For Italy, home to 80 inhabited islands, thousands of mountain towns, and one of the world’s busiest tourist destinations, this quiet, zero-emission option offers a practical way to improve connectivity without adding congestion or disruption for residents and visitors alike.
BREAKING: Italy is looking to integrate air taxis, potentially enabling 10-minute flights from Rome’s city center to Fiumicino Airport on the outskirts.
Archer Aviation, the American eVTOL developer, has partnered with ITA Airways, Italy’s national airline, to develop an all-electric air taxi network across the country.
@flyarcher has already completed test flights in complex urban airspace, including flights from Oakland over San Francisco Bay toward the Marina District.
Italy presents a unique opportunity for air taxi adoption, with approximately 80 inhabited islands, over 3,000 mountain towns, major airports located outside city centers, and its position as the fifth-most-visited country in the world.
Joby Aviation and BETA Technologies have launched Florida’s first eIPP operations, flying side-by-side from St. Petersburg to Tampa International Airport.
These flights generate critical real-world data on airport integration, acoustics, and vertiport procedures—directly supporting FAA type certification and de-risking the path to commercial electric air taxi service.
By validating operations on a high-demand corridor and mapping Florida’s Aerial Highway Network (Tampa–Orlando–Space Coast), the program accelerates scalable revenue opportunities in passenger transport, cargo, and medical logistics while leveraging low-cost electric operations and state-backed infrastructure.
Proud to fly alongside @BETA_aircraft as we kick off @MyFDOT ’s eIPP, retracing the world’s first scheduled airline flight, flown by Tony Jannus in 1914.
From Jannus to electric flight, American aviation keeps moving forward. 🇺🇸

Electric vertical lift has arrived in Florida. 🍊
Friday, we fly across Tampa Bay.
Who’s coming to watch?
Big news: Joby is scheduled to fly our electric air taxi in Florida this Friday, October 30th, and everyone’s invited.
In 1914, the world’s first commercial flight lifted off the water in St. Petersburg and crossed Tampa Bay.
This week, we fly that route again.
Same bay, a very different aircraft. But one thing hasn’t changed: no runway necessary.
Come relive history and be part of a new chapter.

@risierra88 pone los números:
panel solar: de US$0,34 a ~US$0,10 por watt.

Hydrogen Aircraft Gains Advanced Cooling for Extended Range.
French aerospace startup Beyond Aero is collaborating with TAT Technologies to implement an advanced Universal Cooling System (UCS) in its hydrogen-electric business aircraft, the ONE.
The aircraft is engineered to transport six passengers over approximately 800 nautical miles (about 920 miles), significantly surpassing the range of comparable battery-electric models.
Key Points:
Hydrogen fuel-cell propulsion generates substantial heat, requiring efficient dissipation without excessive weight or space penalties.
The system is engineered for tight size and weight constraints, supporting emerging electric and hydrogen-electric aircraft designs.
This range is roughly five times greater than current battery-electric aircraft, enabled by hydrogen fuel-cell technology and advanced cooling.
Why It Matters: Integrating advanced cooling directly into aircraft design is pivotal for enabling long-range, low-emission hydrogen-electric aviation, supporting commercial viability and sustainability goals.
