Those denying Meghan’s suicidal thoughts - it is an absolute disgrace. Such ‘I don’t believe it’ is why people don’t speak out about mental health, why they suffer in silence, feel shame. We need to be better than this.

If ever there was self-proving thread this is it. The number of white men (and it's always white men) 'offended' because underrepresented people might have a safe space to ask questions is ridiculous 🤦♂️

Britain wouldn’t be Britain without fish and chips. It may be one of our best-loved national dishes, but fish and chips have a little-known history 🐟🍟 Let #JoBrand, @garylineker and @yasminkadimusic explain. #StandWithRefugees

I've been wanting to put together this little article for a while now. I wanted to share my thoughts of the switch from "master" to "main" and also provide a resource of how to accomplish this switch.
Hope you enjoy ✊🏽

🚨 iOS 14 catches apps spying on your clipboard. 🚨
Some apps access whatever you copied, silently, just by opening the app. The new iOS feature catches them in the act by notifying you.

I picked the names "master" (and "origin") in the early Git tooling back in 2005.
(this probably means you shouldn't give much weight to my name preferences :) )
I have wished many times I would have named them "main" (and "upstream") instead.
Glad it's happenning @natfriedman

I know it's a small step. My plan is to change all the repositories under my control. I invite you to do the same. Alternatives can be "main," "primary," or "production." And, let's call on platforms like @github @gitlab and @Bitbucket to use better terminology.

Why was #EdwardColston put up as a statue in Bristol in the first place, in 1895, over 170 years after he died? If they wanted a white businessman/philanthropist (and we'll get onto his philanthropy later), there were many other candidates. Why a slave trader?

1. “Main” is shorter! Yay brevity!
2. It’s even easier to remember, tbh
3. If it makes any of my teammates feel an ounce more comfortable, let’s do it!
4. If it prevents even a single black person from feeling more isolated in the tech community, feels like a no brainer to me!

It took a lot of time, but I've gone through *all* my GitHub repositories and renamed the "master" branch to "main" – a small step forward, but a step forward nonetheless ❤️
Join me: git branch -m master main; git push -u origin main

apple leak: There's no iOS 14 plans this year. we'll get continuous iOS 13 updates until 13.99, then iOS 14 release next year.

In a former life, when I thought you cd politely persuade people not to be racist
Their response? "If you don't like it here, LEAVE". Which I'm yet to hear said to a white British person
Racism is telling black people who have a critique of their own country, they should leave
Daniel Tull retweeted
So everyone saying, why couldn't Bristol just discuss it and bring it down through agreement? It's not that simple. While statues are being discussed and changes blocked, black people have to pass them daily, seeing the congratulation of slave trading, their horror and pain. (13)
