went mildly viral on linkedin last week for posting a picture of me handing out a one-pager to a cto explaining why he should hire me… and well, I have some thoughts. every startup out there says they want people who didn't take the ordinary path, but then their JD says “ex-consulting, PE/VC, or IB preferred.” i don't have any of them, and it feels impossible to break through these barriers. the job search has completely dismantled my self worth and made me question every single decision I’ve taken. why didn’t I just do one year of consulting? Instead of moving to Berlin to work for random startups. why didn’t I choose finance? Instead of jumping around ops roles with undefined tasks. why didn’t I do an online coding course? Instead of studying data science for two years at 26 y/o. this is not a pity party. I believe I’ve done difficult things in the last 5 years, taken risks that my peers would never take and had quite a few pinch me moments. i would just like recruiters to see the big pictures instead of focusing on badges and labels. anyway, still looking.

Every person that moves to SF goes to a bunch of tech events in the first two weeks and realizes it's a complete waste of time.

I am convinced that (for most companies) the healthiest way to run a company is by seedstrapping The playbook: raise once, nail product + distribution and become profitable The goal: Be AI-native from day 1, stay small and become a money printing machine that pays every year dividends to founders, team members and investors Long-term everyone wins and (arguably) you have a higher chance in building generational wealth
Be profitable and run your company with maximal agentic loops You don’t need to sell more of your co anymore $10M profit per year reinvested is like an annual Series A no dilution The best startups do this now. No whinging about the Series A/B crunch. You don’t need saving.

Series A and Series B are the hardest rounds for founders today. Founders launch a vertical AI SaaS company. They reach $1M-$3M ARR in 2 years or $5M-$10M in 3-4 years. They go out to market with their 1x-3x growth. Almost no interest from investors. If it's not the right category or a deep, long-term conviction bet, most investors stay away. Founders are stuck with large pref stacks and a market that doesn't value this growth. They are neither sustainable (at their current burn) nor venture-fundable (without growth). The exit options (if available) don't leave much for the team. In most cases, founders are required to join the acquiring company (but they aren't interested). I talk to many founders who have been misadvised, and they keep grinding without making progress. The Series A or B that didn't happen won't magically happen in 1 year with a little more progress. If the market moves much faster than your company progresses, you will always be behind. If you are told today to hit some metrics and come back, the market will have already moved by the time you return.

All in. Every time. Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle star as Caroline Ellison and Sam Bankman-Fried in this limited series about the love scorned prodigies behind the FTX scandal. The Altruists premieres November 19.

They didn't use AI, they did a combination of mp3 compression + applying Fourier Transform to build a digital fingerprint of each song. The fingerprint would work as an ID for the song. At the end they would have a large DB of song IDs
Dude, how did Shazam work 15 years ago without AI!?

Blast is shutting down while supposedly processing 1.3M transactions last week and 17.5K active users. A perfect reminder that such metrics are absolutely worthless. RIP Blast.
Blast will be shutting down. We launched Blast with the goal of building a self-sustaining chain for users and developers. Unfortunately, the economics of operating the chain no longer make sense: the ongoing costs of maintaining Blast exceed the revenue generated by the L2, and we do not see a credible path to making the chain economically sustainable. As a result, we've made the difficult decision to wind Blast down. We're sorry to the users and developers who believed in Blast, built on it, and supported the ecosystem. Our priority now is making the shutdown as smooth and safe as possible. We're asking all users to withdraw their assets from Blast to Ethereum mainnet, including any balances held in the Blast PWA. To make this easier, we will be reducing the withdrawal delay to 24 hours. As part of the shutdown process, we'll first begin withdrawing Blast's Lido assets. This process is expected to take approximately one week. During this period, withdrawals will temporarily be unavailable, even after the withdrawal delay is reduced to 24 hours. Once that process is complete, withdrawals will resume with the new 24-hour delay. Users will have until October 26, 2026 to withdraw through the normal Blast interface. After October 26, assets will remain withdrawable, but users will need to interact directly with the Blast bridge contracts on Ethereum L1. We'll publish detailed instructions before then. We strongly encourage everyone to withdraw their assets to Ethereum mainnet before October 26.

John Madden was EA's third choice for the game that sold 130 million copies. Joe Montana said no. Joe Kapp wanted royalties. So EA's founder boarded an Amtrak train, because Madden refused to fly, and spent three days pitching a retired coach on a computer game. Madden said yes for one reason. He thought it could teach people football. Then EA told him the computers of 1984 could only fit seven players a side on screen. Madden told them that wasn't football. Real 11-on-11 or no deal, even if it took years. It did. John Madden Football didn't ship until 1988. The refusal turned out to be the whole franchise. Realism was the moat. By 1993 the NFL licensed it, and to this day it's the only licensed NFL video game series in existence. Here's the part that stings. Trip Hawkins offered Madden as much EA stock as he wanted at $7.50 a share. Madden waved him off. "I gave you my time. I'm not giving you my money." Ten years later the stock hit $70. He called it the dumbest thing he ever did. Didn't matter. In 2005 EA paid him $150 million for his name in perpetuity, plus annual royalties. The name outlasted the share price. And the ending nobody remembers. A knee injury ended Madden's playing career before he took a single NFL snap. The man who never played a down put his name on the game 130 million people bought so they could.
Football wouldn’t be football, without Madden. Watch #MaddenMovie November 18.
