The truth that YOU are in control of your experience of life - at EVERY single level - supersedes every other rule, piece of knowledge, or information.
There's a difference between saying:
- "I'm a failure."
- "I failed to do what I said I'd do."
- "I need to change how I approach this so it doesn't happen again."
The first is a judgment on your identity as a whole. The second identifies the truth of a moment. The third begins the work of change.
Kill the first. Acknowledge the second. Dance in the third.
You have to be able to do the hard thing for soft reasons.
Tolerating discomfort in service of someone's well-being.
Doing that which is necessary, even if it's tough, out of love.
Sometimes love looks like blood, sweat, and tears.

I was asked why I remind people to drink water:
Replying to @OptionsOnly_
One day, sitting alone in a forest, I discovered I was bleeding.
Funny, I thought. I hadnβt seen my own blood in years. This is new. This is familiar. I feel a microcosm of sensations all simultaneously.
It occurs to me in this breathless moment that I am something remarkable. I am human. I am a sack of liquid living on a floating rock of water.
This is incredible, I thought to myself. How, how can I make this discover even better, I wondered.
The blood. What is the blood made from? Water. What grows these trees around me? Water. What is the sweat on my skin? Water. What are these clouds in the sky? Water.
*dramatic gasp*
What if we, collectively, took part in this beautiful realization together? What if I could bring people along into my discover? I am human, and so are you, and what we need most of all is: water!
So I took it upon myself to set out into the big bright world, brave and emboldened, to tell the people to hydrate. I knew theyβd forget so I would simply persist, Iβd remind them daily. It would be fun. Theyβd laugh. Iβd laugh. Weβd make a game of it and everyone would come out more hydrated at the end.

I just kept getting headaches from dehydration and it started as my way of reminding myself. One of those.
Day 361. I want to become someone who listens to her body before it has to start throwing furniture. Water helps. Drink up.
Does anyone else get this vague feeling of being in trouble when they go to the doctor for something acute?
