THUNDERdOWNUNDER — OCTOBER EVENT UPDATE
THUNDERdOWNUNDER no longer retains the required core from its invited roster for Logitech G Pro 2026 and DFRAG Invitational 2026. The following has been determined:
ANZC LOCALS
THUNDERdOWNUNDER still meets the core roster requirements for the roster registered before the cut-off deadline of Sunday, August 30, 2026. Their participation is unchanged.
---
LOGITECH G PRO 2026
This is a Tier 2 wildcard tournament. The published Additional Information includes the following provision for replacements on or after the withdrawal cutoff:
“If no eligible Oceania roster can be confirmed through that Direct VRS Invite order, the vacancy will be filled by an additional Wildcard Invite”
We are unable to replace this roster via Direct VRS Invite. An additional Wildcard Invite will therefore go to:
dexter • Liazz • viridian • Gratisfaction • TBD
This roster is eligible because three players were members of a top-12 roster on the August VRS Asia Invite List, satisfying the following wildcard provision:
“3.6.3 A Roster shall only be eligible for a Wildcard Invite if it is ranked lower than 12 on the Global VRS list and it fulfills at least one of the following requirements as of the Invitation Date:
a) It includes at least 3 players who individually were members of a top 12 Roster on an Invite VRS List at any time during the preceding 6 months.”
This team will compete as THUNDERdOWNUNDER and will be seeded last, as it is not itself a listed roster.

DFRAG INVITATIONAL 2026
This is a Tier 2 tournament featuring VRS Invites from Asia, filtered for Oceania. We are therefore unable to use a Wildcard Invite to replace the roster.
Under the published rules for replacements on or after the withdrawal cutoff, we will run a Last Chance Qualifier:
• Monday, October 12, 2026
• Maximum 64 teams
• Single-elimination bracket
• All matches Bo1, except the Grand Final
• Bo3 Grand Final
The published Additional Information states:
“Last Chance Qualifier
DFRAG may run a Last Chance Qualifier to fill a vacant Direct VRS Invite slot at the Offline LAN Main Event.
This applies only to Oceania and Asia Direct VRS Invite LAN slots that become vacant on or after the LAN Withdrawal Cutoff (September 26, 2026, 23:59 AEST).
A Last Chance Qualifier may be used only after a replacement cannot be confirmed in time under Invite acknowledgement and acceptance, Slot supplementation, Qualifier withdrawals, and Replacement metrics, or when the replacement roster must be determined on short notice before the Offline LAN Main Event.”
If no replacement team can attend the Offline Main Event, these matches will be forfeited by the original THUNDERdOWNUNDER roster: aliStair, asap, dexter, Liazz and TjP.

Seeing a lot of confusion and comments about our forfeit last night, so hopefully this clears up some of the comments.
The region "Asia" is where we are forced to play, based on our nationalities. The region includes Australia as well as all the Asian countries.
The qualifier for Beijing and others is online. They use only Asian Servers No Australian Servers are in the Server Pool. 80% of Australia live on the east coast (Sydney, Melbourne etc).
The ping from these Eastern Cities to the closest Asia Server (Singapore) is about 110ms. It's 8hrs by plane.
This is why historically we dont play the qualifiers, its very hard to beat Tyloo/Lynn Vision etc on fair conditions, impossible to beat them on 110ms. With VRS on the line, its crazy to accept.
However there is 1 city in Australia where we can play on a reasonable ping (50ms). This is Perth. This is on the other side of Australia. We took flights of 4-6hrs to fly to Perth. Yes we fly 4-6hrs to play an Online Qual (Further than flying LA to Miami or flying London to Moscow) and still get 50ms when we arrive.
We found a venue that has very good internet, both in speed/redundancy/routing.
We were playing the qual from Perth on 50ms. Tyloo had 55ms - so this should of been nearly perfect (50 vs 55) and a great game for the fans to see.
However the physical connection from Perth to Asia breaks.
Flying 7 people, renting the venue and accommodating 7 people isn't free. It will cost us around 15k USD to play an online qual on 50ms.
If we dont pay, we dont play and miss the events. All the other Asia teams can play from Home.
This was our choice, we wanted to give it a go, as i said we usually decline all invites because of the cost/risk.
This ended with us forfeiting the cost, the VRS and the chance to qualify.
It is what it is, maybe we will try again next year!
ANZC Locals Spring 2026 is locked in for Brisbane this October.
8 teams, High Seed Registration plus Open Qualifier pathways, and a $10,000 LAN.

This is how the NEW Re-designed effective range and extent of C4 explosion damage looks like in-game.
BIG Update - bomb damage has been completely reworked.
Now, when the bomb detonates, an explosive wave of destruction will flow from the bombsite through the map. As before, if you're too close to the bomb when it explodes, you're toast--but the shockwave dissipates around corners and doesn't go through walls, so at a certain distance you can use your wits to survive. Or, if you're not confident your wits are up to the task, check your health bar which will flash a preview of how well you'll fare after the blast.

For all Melbourne-based Cs2 players and Faceit players, Gala Internet Cafe in Box Hill is hosting a cs2 lan on August 1-2nd. This is a proof of concept idea (which if has a successful turnout may lead to more consistent cs2 lans in the future). Discord signup link is at (cont)

Counter-Strike turns 27 today, and we’re celebrating by watching the best in the world play at the Cathedral of Counter-Strike.
Thank you for playing and thank you for watching. Thank you for your frag movies, nade lineups, silly game modes and videos, jokes, quips, Counter-Strike lore, inside jokes only a CS player would understand, and for your feedback; all of it.
Most importantly, thank you for your passion for the game. It’s all of you who make Counter-Strike your favorite first person shooter’s favorite first person shooter.
Happy birthday, Counter-Strike. 🎉
