In 2013, Elon Musk published a 58 page technical paper describing a new transportation system called the Hyperloop: a pod traveling through a low pressure tube at 700 miles per hour, connecting Los Angeles to San Francisco in 30 minutes. The paper included engineering specifications, cost estimates, route planning, and aerodynamic calculations. Then he released it. For free. No patent. No company. No ownership claim. He gave it to the world and told anyone who wanted to build it to go ahead. The decision baffled the business world. A detailed engineering blueprint for a potentially revolutionary transportation system, produced at significant cost in engineering time, was published as open source. Any company, any government, any university could take the design and build it without paying Elon a dollar. The intellectual property was handed over voluntarily. He explained the decision with a logic that sounds insane until you understand how he thinks: he was too busy with SpaceX and Tesla to build the Hyperloop himself, but the concept was too important to sit unrealized in a filing cabinet. The choice was between: (1) patent it, build a company around it in 10 years when he had bandwidth, and delay the technology by a decade, or (2) release it now and let the world build it faster than he could alone. He chose speed over ownership. The paper inspired the creation of multiple companies (Virgin Hyperloop, Hyperloop Transportation Technologies) and student competitions at universities worldwide. The concept is now being developed across multiple countries. None of the companies pay Elon. None of them are required to credit him. The idea that he spent millions developing is being built by strangers who owe him nothing. The decision reveals a hierarchy of values that most executives cannot comprehend: speed of civilization's advancement ranks above personal ownership of the advancement. He would rather the world have the technology sooner than he have the revenue from it later. The calculation prioritizes the species over the individual. It is the same calculation that drives SpaceX's open approach to rocket data. The mission outranks the profit. A man gave away a billion dollar idea because he didn't have time to build it and the world needed it sooner than his schedule allowed. The paper is still free. The concept is being built. The person who designed it gets nothing. He considers this the correct outcome.

I've rarely seen users run out of OneDrive space, and that is before it's raised to 5TB. The couple of times I have seen it, it was someone storing backups, installers, or VHDs. Now, if you redirect your downloads folder to OneDrive...thay eats up storage.
Microsoft 365 admins: how many OneDrive accounts in your tenant are near their storage quota, and would you pay for metered storage or run a cleanup first?

When marriages become about individual satisfaction it undermines marriages true purpose.
“We should stop telling women that the ultimate goal is to have everything and start reminding them of the beauty of having something worth giving everything for.” — @Riley_Gaines_ I find that the more I GIVE, the more I GET out of life. And when I apply this to my wife and kids it’s like putting this equation into an accelerator.

NEW: The Pentagon has granted the Department of Homeland Security permission to test a heat ray weapon at the southern border. The military-grade heat ray can shoot an invisible beam of electromagnetic waves at potential intruders. The weapon can reach people more than half a mile away, according to the United States military. According to the Pentagon, the heat ray weapon is non-lethal but causes a burning sensation on the skin that can last between 10 and 15 minutes. The weapon sends an uncomfortable tingling effect on a potential intruder, generating "an instinctive and irresistible urge to run from the effect." Officials say the feeling is similar to the blast of heat you receive when you open up a hot oven.

Listened to the Three Whiskey Happy Hour this morning. Another great episode. Steve however, is operating under the mistaken impression that Military Historians are more conservative. Perhaps it was that way once, but no longer. I am not in academia, but know a few Military Historians and none have a conservative thought in them. @Trixies357 set him straight. I'm glad you discussed the Ilhan Omar issues, but I also wish you would address the comments by Sen. Slotkin (D-MI) about how she sees the prosecution of Trump and those that work for him as the way they discourage people coming out of college from even considering working for the Trump admin. Why would it stop there?

Today was my first Chili Cook Off. I made The Chili Of the Beast (6 meats, 6 peppers, 6 beans). We started at 7am served the judges at Noon, and the people got to eat from Noon to 2 (but they stopped about 1:30 because people ran out. We won People's Choice.
