Seydoux's grandfather and great-uncle are the Chairmen of Pathé and Gaumont (the world's oldest film studio), respectively. Two giant French production houses. Keep that in mind when she looks at a Victorian Sponge Cake and says "I don't understand the purpose of this" lmao
the way she didn’t try a single one and was hating on all of them

The idea that Amanda Seyfried owes Holmes an apology for portraying her in a miniseries is asinine, especially coupled with the fact that Holmes has never once been sorry about her own actions (including driving a person to suicide!) and still believes her own bullshit
I think Nathan Fielder did a really good job with You Can See Everything. Especially in showing how unwilling Amanda Seyfried was to acknowledge her own role in potentially harming another person. He had everyone looking at one another and questioning everyone else’s intentions, while seemingly being completely unwilling to examine their own behavior. I thought Amanda’s resistance to doing that was especially revealing I also obviously think Billy is terrible. I think he’s cruel and exploitative. I’ve seen Elizabeth’s tweets for years and thought they were her. Finding out they’re his was jarring and sad. But as much as I dislike Billy, I think he made a very good point. Why would he care what Amanda thinks? She’s an actress who has profited from portraying his wife as a bizarre and dishonest and manipulative freak to an audience that is largely voyeuristic, incredibly binary in their moral thinking, and seemingly unable to separate fiction from reality I don’t think that Amanda needed to defend Elizabeth or excuse anything she’s done but I do think it’s bizarre how unwilling she seemed to consider that she might have contributed to another person’s suffering

how aggressive a response this got is completely unwarranted, but I think I understand what prompted it: if you have convinced yourself that being terminally online is necessary to the life of a person who does culture work, then agreeing with this column is to question that life

Nathan Fielder: And do you get why this is funny? Elizabeth Holmes: Yes, Costello doesn't realize that Abbott has already given him the names of the baseball players, since they all sound like interrogative words. Nathan Fielder: Yes :)

I was finding it difficult to understand why so many people seem to be struggling with YCSE and the documentary form, but I think most people associate the word with “YouTuber reading off Wikipedia” or saying “yeah wow that’s crazy” while interviewing some public figure

If you're a professional critic and you're not standing up for the occasional piece of trash I don't trust your takes on the prestige stuff tbh. Way too many sycophants in film discourse quite frankly
