Catheter-Based LAAC vs OAC in Patients With #AFib buff.ly/Lvuy4Uk 'In patients with AF at moderate to high risk of stroke, catheter-based LAAC resulted in similar rates of overall stroke and major bleeding compared with OAC but was associated with a significantly higher risk of ischemic stroke and a lower risk of non–procedure-related major bleeding. After failed PFA, how much ablation is too much? In a 2026 @westernafib roundtable, @rranjanMD urged EPs to think beyond lesion sets: eliminating AFib matters, but so does preserving atrial function. Join #WAFIB2027, Feb 25–27! hubs.ly/Q04zGZXt0 @nmarrouche

Proud of our TRIAD fellow Michel Abou Khalil @mabou_khalil for this important work in JCE! In nearly 19,000 patients undergoing first ablation for paroxysmal #AFib, adding lesions beyond PVI was associated with more recurrence, repeat ablation, and atypical flutter. An observational study, but an important reminder: more ablation does not necessarily mean better outcomes. Defining when—and for whom—to go beyond PVI remains critical. @PrashSanders @Dr_Santangeli @S_NarayanMD @shivkumarmd @TinaBaykaner @JonHsuMD @peterkistler3 @DocOfHearts @drjohnm @EJSMD @AndreaRussoEP @Phiso_de @DrJasonAndrade
Out now in JCE: is more ablation better in paroxysmal AF? 18,891 pts, 27% got PVI+ at first ablation. After matching, PVI+ led to: ↑ Recurrence (HR 1.28) ↑ Redo ablation (HR 1.99) ↑ Atypical flutter (HR 2.63) ↑ Persistent AF (HR 1.37) doi.org/10.1111/jce.70519 @nmarrouche
