Yesterday morning, 15-year-old Javits Frimpong was shot and killed near Crotona Park on his way to school. Javits came to the Bronx from Ghana just a year ago to join his father and begin a new life here. Our entire borough is mourning a young man who should have had his whole future ahead of him.
I am grateful to the officers of the 42nd Precinct who rushed Javits to St. Barnabas Hospital in an effort to save his life. Those responsible must be held accountable, and I urge anyone with information to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
Every child in the Bronx deserves to walk to school without fearing for their life, and no parent should ever have to endure what Javits’s father, Thomas, is enduring now. My heart is with him and with everyone in Claremont grieving today.

The reporters covering the case of the 15 year old Ghanaian boy are so insensitive to the dad

All this for sum $76 from Elon , smh
This should teach us that not every city or neighbourhood is suitable for raising children. At some point, I question Javits Frimpong’s father’s decision to raise his son in the Bronx, where the crime rate is reportedly high and gang activities remain a concern in the neighbourhoods. As parents, we must be mindful of the environments in which we raise our children. Otherwise, they risk being exposed to violence, drugs and a life of crime. I hope the Government of Ghana intervenes and offers the family the necessary support during this difficult time. May we all learn from this tragedy, may his soul rest in peace. 💔 🕊️
You people have no tact, you question his decision as who?? Wo b3 hire dain ama no?

I Know we upset , but This is not a good take at all bro . So many of our parents came here to not so ideal situations and created a better life for us because back home wasn’t it at all . They weren’t rich they made due with what they had . We don’t come here and move to the suburbs immediately .

You’ll come here and reduce the hate and xenophobia to online chatter and “psyop” , it is clear that the hate is still being taught to your kids, and unfortunately xenophobia and specifically in this case afrophobia has cost a kid his very young life.
CCTV footage has reportedly captured the moments surrounding the tragic shooting of 15-year-old Javits Frimpong in the Bronx. The footage could help investigators identify the suspects responsible for his death. This is heartbreaking. 💔 #JusticeforJavitsFrimpng

Use your own figure, 8 in 1,000 per birth. The UN's is nearer 10, but yours is enough.
Nigerian women average nearly five births, by the latest national health survey. On your number, about 1 in 26 dies from pregnancy over her lifetime.
Nigeria has more than 3,000 people on death row and has hanged none of them since 2016. On your own arithmetic, pregnancy here kills more reliably than the gallows.
Picture it as flying. At your odds, one flight in every 125 would crash. Would you board? No commercial passenger flight in Nigeria has crashed fatally since 2013. Pregnancy and childbirth, at your own rate, still kill about 60,000 women here a year.
When you get to the point where you are releasing statement about someone’s wedding dress, you have to ask yourself questions.

It was only the other day I was reading about Damiola Taylor, same story in London 1997, this happens way too much. Parents need to be jailed too

Xenophobia is so odd, imagine coming to America thinking you will find better just to be met with violence because you have a foreign accent.

This was the white liberal position all along: concede that race “was a factor” but continue to treat Jason as guilty without proof. Now he’s been cleared of plagiarism yet again but this is still the white liberal position because it never had anything to do with proof / truth.
Replying to @helenlewis @carolecadwalla
Surely it can be possible to conclude that the attention was disproportionate, and his race was a factor (both in his promotion and his hounding), without having to pretend that he did nothing wrong and has been "cleared"?

so a young Ghanaian boy was bullied in the Bronx and he was eventually shot and killed. literally was such a quiet kid and he came to America less than a year ago. His dad has been in America for the past 26 years. xenophobia is genuinely despicable. I’m sick to my stomach.
