As layoffs accelerate, the companies profiting most from AI have an opportunity to pioneer a form of “soft UBI” through generous severance packages and extended benefits. It's in their own interest, too. They could accelerate automation while cushioning the blow for displaced workers and mitigating the inevitable public backlash.
Canva is laying off 22% of its workforce which is 1271 employees, and this is what their CEO said. We need more founders like thissss.

I love GIFs (pronounced with a G, obviously). I wanted to try this out so I built a fun little app that turns company origin stories into GIFs. Get the whole Acquired episode in 8 frames. You can add yours too. 😁 pitchflip.shiptiffin.app
Today, we’re bringing GPT-Image-2.6 to Codex and the API. Image-2.6 Flare and Sunburst, our two new API image models, generate images 50% faster than before. At medium or high quality, Sunburst keeps details more consistent from one edit to the next.

I know you want to make a sweeping generalization and score a cheap “gotcha,” but the fundamental flaw in these headlines is the assumption that AI will never improve. And boy, will it improve fast. AI will discover new drugs. AI will cure diseases. AI will revolutionize scientific discovery. Ignore the noise.

Sadly my layoffs and data moratorium predictions are coming true... teapawt.org/deepwhitman/status/209…
Last night's datacenter moratorium/restrictions appear to have gone 43 - 1, with a massive swell of public support averaging 77% to shut it all down. Public sentiment on on AI in America has been going steadily downhill for three years. It is once again at a new low.

Imagine if that assassin had succeeded and Trump had died? He would be thought of as Jesus by MAGA. Thankfully we got to see what a shit show his second admin actually was. Moral of the story: assassinations are dumb. Try to have better ideas and execution skills than the other guy.

This is now kicking into high gear. The whole "AI is just a tool" argument was copium that stopped being true for software engineers after Opus 4.5, and has been eating away at more and more roles since (a trend that will only accelerate as more capable models come out). Companies that are purely software businesses are going to feel the most impact as margins get compressed. More competition, customers pushing back on pricing because they can vibe-code their own solutions or find cheaper alternatives, and companies realizing they can do the same amount of work, or even more, with fewer people. The cutthroat calculus is that it's better to give your top people more tokens than to spread the work across a larger team. And the even more bitter calculus is that keeping a lot of those people around may actually be a net negative.
CANVA IS LETTING GO 22% OF ITS WORKFORCE AFTER ITS GROWTH SLOWED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A DECADE About 1,271 employees will lose their jobs, change roles, or move to central offices, CEO Melanie Perkins told staff, per Bloomberg.

Twitter can sort by your most popular posts now. Apparently this is my number 1 banger.
Veo3 is insane! At this rate, Veo4 will be indistinguishable from human-made videos

Trying out a new ad + demo format. The formula is: a quick hook + computer use recording of the product + avatar video talking through it Then stitch it together so it feels like a person is demoing the app like they are using ReelBird (free Screen Studio alternative). This is for my Sign up sheet app called Dibs dibs.page

Holy shit. Not only was the engineer compromised, but he was compromised because he was looking for a job to get out of Binance. That guy is cooked.

Needed to get hyped for the week so here we are. Opus 5.5 Directing + Codex Images + H3 Max Turbo + Suno v6-wild Music

in a way this is a more direct and efficient way to distill a parent model. dont need to create an artificial dataset of thinking traces.
We asked GPT-6 Astra to edit Qwen3.5-0.8B weights to improve math. It directly changed only 0.016% of weights, fixing 0.8B's reasoning loops & improving math up to 6x and even instruction following 3x, without gradients or training. We call this Weight-Space Programming: frontier LLMs can now natively read/write neural network weights! 🧵 Blog: rikiyat.github.io/blog/weigh…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
LLM was given weights explicitly as text in prompt and used code/forward passes (per authors' logs) to ablate Qwen looping direction, a known thinking-mode issue per model card. Primarily fixed repetition in that mode, not general 'natively' improving weights/math. rikiyat.github.io/blog/weight-sp… github.com/RikiyaT/lm_und… huggingface.co/Qwen/Qwen3.5-0… huggingface.co/RikiyaT/Qwen3.…

I got over 80K views within a couple of days on Instagram on this one! Might pivot that channel to body language analysis. 😆

Did some AI body language analysis 😆

Stoner might be the only audiobook I've ever listened to where I loved the book but hated every single character.

Believe it or not, in a week or two we'll probably have new models from Anthropic and hopefully OpenAI, making today's Opus 5.5 feel as painful to use as Astra does now. The hedonic treadmill of intelligence keeps accelerating.

We will look back in bewilderment at the fact that so many people bought the argument they will be needed to "supervise" superintelligence.
