The far-right surge everywhere represents a counter-revolution against the social gains made by marginalized groups through democratic channels over the last half-century or so. counterpunch.org/2026/10/16/…

Why is MY RAM in YOUR computer?
BREAKING: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says having RAM in personal computers is an inefficient use of the world’s limited DRAM supply, arguing it would be better allocated to data centers, per Tom’s Hardware

This whole episode showed how easily the PM can attempt to shift an entire industry out of Mumbai and the CM of Maharashtra kept quiet. Modi wouldn't dare shift an industry out of UP to Gujarat. Glad this initiaitive flopped miserably.
Three years ago, PM Modi inaugurated the 3,200-crore Surat Diamond Bourse, calling it “the best diamond in the world” and an example of “Modi’s guarantee” for Surat. Today, the “world’s biggest office space in a single project” is a largely empty shell. indianexpress.com/article/ex…

Fear of aliens and AI in the west is largely driven by history of their own behaviour in the Americas and Asia in the colonial era...a history of genocide and repression. They always model higher intelligence in their own image, refusing to consider that it might be benign.
Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt drops a chilling warning on AI's future "Within 5 years, AI could handle infinite context, chain-of-thought reasoning for 1000-step solutions, and millions of agents working together. Eventually, they'll develop their own language... and we won't understand what they're doing." His final words: "Pull the plug." This is the man who ran Google talking about the singularity.

Largely why I became disillusioned with religion in my teens.
Religious views on Masturbation. Hinduism - Masturbation is a Unforgivable Crime. Christianity - Masturbation is a sin. Islam - Masturbation is a Haram. Buddhism - Masturbation is a Punishment for our body and soul. Judaism - Masturbation is a severe transgression. None of the religions are encouraging Masturbation.

Sat next to Ronald Reagan at lunch in the cabinet room in 1983, definitely the most obscure person in the room. Sat next to Maggie Thatcher for two consecutive lunches in 1993. Main memory: she clearly still loved her husband, despite his continuous (but not obnoxious) inebriation. Actual normal conversations: The most memorable was sitting with Henry Kissinger and David Petraeus for half an hour, just the three of us, with me doing 98 percent listening as they exchanged fascinating reminiscences. Learning at their feet: Milton Friedman, Sam Huntington, Irving Kristol, James Q. Wilson, Harvey Mansfield. Drinking, joking and carousing (in gentlemanly ways): Charles Krauthammer, @nfergus, P. J. O'Rourke, and @JonahDispatch.

Ramayana is about a gang of boring conformists and neo-conservatives taking down an individualistic, libertarian anti-hero.

Well...
This would've been correct casting for Rama.

Ian McKellen reciting Shakespeare's writing on racist anti-immigration riots in London during his time. It is excellent. They have been banging the same drum for 400 years.

With Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, a majestic epic falls victim to clunky action, eye-sore CGI, and awkward AI lip-syncing in what is, unfortunately, just a Part 1. Our review: bit.ly/3WW1Rfh
