It's crazy, we made the music and sound on this game using @deflemask to make it work on the soundchip of the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, and converting to a custom engine by @agusSoulReaver, we even had to go in and find sound bugs in the music though the assembly code.
YES BUGS IN THE MUSIC.
Receiving such a honor in a category that's not specifically for retro music or chiptune speaks of how we were able to make the technicalities disappear and create some great music and sound without caveats. I'm sure some of the jury didn't even know the game ran on 16bit emulation/hardware when testing.
Of course the process is part of the art, that's exactly why ai art is not art, because there is no process. So the fact that it's done in such a way is a valid point. But in this case I really wanted the music to be cool by itself, not just because it was tracked and coded in assembly. I think this award is at least one proof that we achieved that.
