Sporadic gadfly. Possibly also a 'patronizing idiot', 'font hipster', and/or author of 'a tech blog', depending who you ask. https://teapawt.org/t.co/JsrafnAkwS

To be clear, Claude Tag is the new version of Claude for Slack. Don’t get it confused with Channels, Remote Control, Dispatch, Teleport, or Computer Use, nor about how it interacts with Code, Cowork, Design, Plan Mode, Ultraplan, Ultracode, or Ultrareview, not to mention Projects, Artifacts, Artifacts for Code, nor Routines, Scheduled Tasks, Workflows (/ Dynamic Workflows), Loops, or Goals, which may or may not use Hooks (not Webhooks), Tools, Skills, Agents, (or Managed Agents or Subagents or Background Agents, plus sub-subagents and background chains - possibly in Batch or Agent Teams, so check Agent View), Connectors, or Plugins - including MCP, LSP, or Monitors, of course. Remember, certain aspects may or may not work from mobile, and may be available only on Mac, only on Web, or only in CLI (but definitely not only on Windows), where you may encounter difficulties with Sandbox especially with Ask Permissions, but not necessarily with Accept Edits, or Bypass Permissions, or Auto Mode, and it's probably all fine as long as you're using Worktrees. It may or may not be available via API, on Free, Pro, Max, Max 200, Team, Enterprise, or new Enterprise plans, where they may or may not be on by default, and may or may not require an admin to enable them for your Workspaces. And of course results will vary based on Model: Haiku vs Sonnet vs Opus (& potentially Fable/Mythos), Version (4.5, 4.6, 4.7, or 4.8), Effort (Low, Medium, High, Extra, Max) and whether or not you want that to also be Thinking or, alternatively, Extended. Fortunately you can check the Documentation, the Reference, the Guides, the Tutorials, the Cookbook, and the Academy, with Courses. You can even get Certified (but only if you're in the Partner Network). Overwhelmed? Fortunately there's also the Quickstarts! (It's a GitHub repo.)
Introducing Claude Tag, a new way for teams to work with Claude. In Slack, Claude joins as a team member with access to the channels and tools you choose. Tag Claude in and delegate tasks to it while you focus on other work.

Extending actual -verification- to everyone who wants it makes sense. Extending an automatic blue checkmark to anyone willing to pay $8 seems pretty dumb.

Sorry Apple, you can't argue with The @Verge Score: the iPhone 14 Pro is the worst flagship phone you've ever made.

It’s pretty amusing that everyone thought Android was going to become the Windows of mobile, but what actually happened is Windows became the Android of PCs.

What the Wall Street Journal considers a “Breaking News” push notification…

So the new 13” MacBook “Pro” is nearly identical to the Air except that it’s heavier, louder, has a smaller screen, a worse camera, fewer ports, and it costs more. One of the more embarrassing products Apple has released - I’d love to hear a charitable defense of its existence.

Google, at I/O: our amazing AI can answer incredibly sophisticated queries! Climbing Mt. Fiji instead of Mt. Adams? Here’s everything you need to know! Google, in reality: There are no direct flights from LA to Bangkok, so you’ll need to connect through Bangkok or Bangkok.

WordleBot's skill score makes an odd choice (your first guess isn't included in the score) but it also has a major flaw: zero skill guesses are awarded 99 points. (cc @jshkatz @mathisonian)

These guesses should just be excluded from the skill score calculation, as they’re pure luck. And unfortunately this sort of scenario is very common at the end of games.

Another day, another inexplicable WordleBot flaw: turns out there are words that are valid Wordle plays, but that aren’t on Wordle’s winning words list. WordleBot scores all of these words as zero skill, despite being valid and potentially highly effective plays.

“Apple Watch is upstream of specific exercise machines.” Yes, but what happened to the idea of Apple providing a complete ecosystem that works well together? Macs are upstream of specific monitors, iPads are upstream of WiFi routers, HomeKit is upstream etc… all garbage fires.

If you think Apple charges too much for the Hermès Watch, you should see what Hermès charges!

Apple: “We’ve removed the plastic wrap from the phone boxes!” Also Apple:
There are countless real money gambling apps in the US App Store - they brazenly brag about the billions in business they’ve done - and, while it’s true they don’t do in-app purchase, they do take Apple Pay! (cc @gruber) teapawt.org/daringfireball/status/…

(I should be precise: Skillz pays developers who use their real money gaming service 45 days after month end. They say they pay players within 6 weeks of withdrawal request - by returning deposited money via the original form of payment, and a paper check for actual winnings.)

(Also, usin’ some false contraction slang but especially the parentheses inside (parentheses) in an explicitly “pedantic note” is an all-time grammar pedant troll. A+)

“Facebook Memories” mainly serve to remind me that 10 years ago I sometimes actually posted something on Facebook.
