Copy any post’s link on X today and look at the end of it. You’ll see something like this:
?a=QDt8qF4_U-uZkhRXl5Q&s=20
For years, people have built whole theories around that tail. “Use s=20 links for more reach.” “s=46 means you’re shadowbanned.” And now there’s a new code, a=, that most people haven’t even noticed yet.
I’m a developer, and X has now made public both the code that runs your For You feed and the scores it gives each action. So we don’t have to guess anymore.
In this thread, I’ll explain in plain words what those codes mean, and the one button that’s worth 40 times more than a like. 🧵

Part 4: The scorecard
For every post, the judge guesses how likely you are to take each of 15 actions, then multiplies each guess by a set score. These are the scores X published:
🔗 Copy link: 20
↩️ Reply: 5 (with a big extra boost when you and the author follow each other)
❤️ Like: just 0.5
Read that again. In this scoring, one person copying your link counts the same as 40 likes.
Bad reactions cost even more. “Not interested” is −43, mute −59 and report −234. One post that makes people reach for the report button can undo a lot of good ones.
The lesson: write posts worth sending to a friend and worth replying to, not just worth tapping a heart on.
That’s the thread. Thank you for reading this far.
The big lesson is simple: there’s no secret number in the link and no magic trick. The algorithm is a machine that tries to predict how real people will react to what you post. And the reaction it values most is when someone thinks, “I need to send this to somebody.”
So write for people, not for tricks. If this thread did that for you, copy the link and send it to a friend. You now know exactly how much that helps. 🔗
Stay curious. Keep building. 🙏

I have watched good, hardworking people lose money in crypto for years.
Not because they were foolish. Because nobody ever sat them down and explained, in simple words, how the trap works.
I build websites and apps for a living, so I see how these things are made behind the scenes. Let me save you some pain.Almost every crypto scam you will ever come across is one of four old tricks. The names change. The logos get fancier.
The promises get louder. But underneath, it is the same game, played the same way, catching the same kind of people.
Read this slowly. Save it. Then send it to that friend who just told you about "a new coin that can only go up." 🧵

Trick 4: The "Guaranteed" Return 📈
This is the oldest trick of all, about a hundred years older than crypto. Only the packaging is new.
"Earn 2% every day." "Double your money in 30 days." "Our system never loses." No honest business can promise that. Real profit goes up and down, because it depends on real people and real markets.
So where does the "guaranteed" money come from? From the next people who join. Early members get paid with newcomers' money, so it looks like it's working. Then fewer new people join, the money runs dry, and it all falls apart. The last ones in lose everything.
If you take only one thing from this thread, take this: if you can't explain where the profit comes from, then you are the profit.
That's the thread. Thank you for reading this far.
If even one of these tricks was new to you, this was worth writing. Crypto itself is not the enemy.
Not understanding it is. Take your time, ask questions, and never let anybody rush you into putting money down.
Save this, share it with someone who is just getting into crypto, and follow me for more simple, no-hype breakdowns.
Stay sharp. Stay safe.
