elyosh finally released OpenXW! Just like OpenXWA, OpenTIE and OpenXvT, it is an open-source reimplementation of X-Wing. It runs the original game data natively on current systems and supports both the 1994 Collector's CD-ROM and the 1998 Windows release.

On 12th September, Cap and our Donators flew a spontaneous Missing Man Formation for Matt “Wags” Wagner on the night we heard the sad news.
The response from the GR community was incredible.
Our GR Members also wanted the opportunity to come together and pay their respects.

Which sci-fi novel best predicted the smartphone?
There's several candidates but I'm going to go with the 1965 Frederik Pohl story The Age Of The Pussyfoot. Pohl had seen early timeshare mainframe systems and imagined a personal device (called the Joymaker) that could do the same thing but with many more applications. It works as a phone, computer, reference library, credit card, health tracker, e-commerce portal, personal secretary and drug dispensary and is voice activated.
